Re: FM Transmitter dongle + software for your Pi :)

This is an old thread and perhaps no longer needed, but the pastebin address for the keene utility has expired and I was hoping someone might still have that code and be able to re-post or host it somewhere. The original code: https://github.com/kenchy/keene-usb-audio Another one with gui: https://...

Problem Autostarting fbi in rc.local

I'm trying to setup a picture frame project. I started with these instructions as base for it, https://github.com/kbfirebreather/rpi-digital-photo-frame The only thing I did different was the "/etc/inittab" step, instead I used raspi-config, Console autologin as "pi". I then placed the start command...

Re: Why not move to using Discourse for this forum?

Full Disclosure, I'm a Moderator at phpbb.com. So many things. Lets begin with one of the simplest things: notifications. Isn't it the most basic requirement, that if you login into a service, you're notified of replies, etc. As of 3.1.x , phpBB has notifications, so upgrading would get these. There...

Re: pi 3 cases

Hi all, Is it possible for me to take a dead Mac mini and place a Raspberry pi inside to resurrect the Mac? I'm interested in undertaking a challenging pi project for the Easter holidays. Definately wouldn't be hard, as it's been done. Apple Mac Mini G4: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic...

Re: Raspberry Pi Alarm Clock

I like this one, haven't got it setup yet. They started on adding a socket server to listen to the phyiscal world for things, like a button press for snooze or stopping the alarm. Assuming you are up to the coding challenge it'd be nice if someone finished that functionality. https://github.com/bubb...

Not sure if MPD supports it, but you could try creating a PLS v2 file: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=65772 search for PLSv2 on that page.

Re: rfid car unlock/lock

As far as the secure key, you can find the transponders(right name?) on line. Just need to search for you year model/make. Most manufacturers will have directions in the car manual for how to program, only a few don't allow users to do this themselves. I recently got two extra remotes for our 2007 F...

Re: Mini-ITX Motherboard

I think it's a nice idea but it's a pity their design requires so many internal cables within the mini-ITX case. I was thinking of something along these lines for a car pc but I don't like the idea of vibration and all those connections. I suppose it was a lot more design work to route the lines fr...

Re: Mini-ITX Motherboard

I would like to see a cut down version of this for cheaper, this is trying to do too much to be really worth it. Im thinking of something along the lines of literally just mounting it to a mini itx frame and routing all the cables to the backplane. Most ITX cases will give you room for hard drives ...

Says 4 port USB hub but there are three pointing up and two out the back, which adds up to 5. Am I missing something. Is one of those power only for using with a sata-usb hd adapter?

I'm using the yellow composit plug. I've been reading up on the config.txt file but am not sure what changes I need to make. Also, don't I need to access the file while in root to edit it? You can start with the setting from this post, should be a good starting point at least: http://www.raspberryp...

Re: Stealth Nighthawk F-117A TVDongle

There are lots of devices like that, most with better hardware specs. Google "android tv stick". They will run other flavours of linux too. That's true, but there aren't any devices with the Raspberry Pi CPU and GPU yet. Hmmm, so you haven't heard of the Roku 2? It uses the same broadcom chip. I'm ...

Instead of using mediafire why not use github to host it? You'd then have the ability for other people to collaborate and push changes to your main branch. Plus you could set up a rudimentary site on github using github pages: http://pages.github.com/

You'd need a USB modem capable of CallerID. Like this Zoom USB modem:
