Re: Autorun a program in Pixel desktop after login

Hi all, I am trying to automatically run the orca screen reader when pixel starts. I am stuck at the first stage. /home/pi/.config/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart There is no lxsession folder on my setup. I did try creating it manually but did not have any success with automatically starting orca. Has s...

Hi winkleink,

Many thanks for your explanation and program. I cannot run your python program because I am on python 3 and am unable to install pygame.

I get errors relating to missing dependencies such as freetype.

Hi Jacob,
I have had something similar happen to my unit. Drain the battery, charge it again and you should be good to go.

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Pranav, I have never had the issue you are experiencing. It does sound like an odd power issue. I have noticed some problems if the camera glasses I use (which have a battery of their own) are not fully charged. The glasses can place an additional power demand on the system. PL] I am using cameras ...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Couple of small suggestions/questions relating to physical form - firstly, the power toggle switch being a push button might allow it to be activated accidentally if, for example, the unit was packed away in something like a moon-bag, and if you were, thus, not making use of the ultra-sound detecto...

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Hi Mikey11, Hmm, good luck with the battery life. We need at least 4 to 5 hours for real use but then again it depends on what people do. If someone uses it to navigate from his car to his office, then the 1 hour battery life is not a big issue. It is summer here with day time temperatures in the lo...

I modified the a-update.sh script as you suggested and reran the update. I am on update 12. The update has worked successfully at least for raspiVoice because I am able to run it without problems.

Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Hi Mikey11, Make those notifications every 10 or 20 minutes. Every 5 minutes will become too annoying. Moreover, users will soon learn to ignore them so tell the user once and give an approximate time that the battery will last. We can explain the technical limitations and state that if funding is s...

Hi Mikey11,

As long as the soundscapes refresh every second and the other functions run in realtime, we should be ok withunderclocking. I hope you will not have to alter the case design.

Hi Mikey11, A face recognizer saying face at top left etc is certainly handy. This is how the iPhone does it. The vOICe for Android also has this capability. A person identifier is certainly useful. Re: Sight for the Blind for <100$

Hi /Mikael, The update went smoothly as far as I can tell. You need to be root to update so the command should be sudo After-Sight-Model-1/a-update_core.sh You then need to reboot with sudo reboot The best way to test is then to unplug the camera and launch raspivoice. Very very nice. By the way, no...
