But this was when I logged-in from a berryterminal-rpi to a live-usb Edubuntu-- Im using Edubuntu. However, when I did a proper installation of Edubuntu, I got everything the momen...

Hi George I am currently talking to a chinese manufacturer of wifi dongles who also do custom work.  I asked if what I wanted was possible at the same price point as a standard usb dongle and they said yes. I wont be converting the ethernet port, I will be actively using it to bridge the wifi to th...

Re: Serial console cable for the Pi

Thanks but I would prefer to keep it RS232 on the PC end to keep things simple. I have googled it and discovered a similar converter that does 3.3V to RS232 on a DB9 which looks like it fits the bill: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RS232-Serial-Port-TTL-Converter-Module-SP3232EEN-5V-3-3V-W-Jump-Cables-/...

Re: Disable UART / serial console to get max GPIO's

edit: In case anyone else ever follows this thread, I didn't actually build the RS232 board myself, but bought it on the basis of another poster's good experiences with it. It's one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271036807405?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Can this board be...

Re: Raspberry Pi as a Touch screen Kiosk

How can I attach a Python powered coin acceptor module via GPIO into this design? Purpose is to be a public internet access kiosk where students can research and print out their assignments.

Re: Getting started creating a video vending machine

@ staple I'm also looking for a solution that will connect the Raspberry Pi to a coin acceptor, but for a different purpose of controlling usage of a internet-connected public computer. The closest proof of concept i've come across is Nick's Advice Machine http://blog.notdot.net/2012/09/Penny-for-yo...

Re: Nvidias Portable Computer System Patent

Its things like this which makes me worry. Yes Nvidia might not sue a charity but a smart guy once said human stupidity is infinite.
I just hope that someone will have the foresight to prevent anything that will shot Raspi out of the sky this early on or even in the future.
