Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

Sorry I've been absent all this month. I've been really busy organizing our office relocation, but also - I think I've been eating too much Raspberry Pi during the year, and kind of got sick of it. I'm gonna keep an eye in, but I just need to step back and take a break from it - It has become more o...

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

I'm not sure if this will help, but I found that when you are using URL's in Issuu - you must keep them on their own line with no other text on the same line.

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

I just want an easy life, so the stuff I've put out there is for free. Use it, sell it or whatever you like. I might not like the ethics of how some people behave, but I'm not prepared to stamp a bunch of legal requirements onto it. People break the laws anyway. We've had offers from publishers to w...

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

That's true, but anyone stating that 'Some of the proceeds will go to the creators of the magazine' would be a lie. I'm not sure of the legalities surrounding donations, but I assume that if those donations reached us personally, it would be a taxable form of income. Even if the MagPi was a business...

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

The Ebay seller was not associated with us in any way. We don't know who she is. We also received no proceeds from any sales. We don't even have a mechanism for receiving funds. I believe Ash approached the seller and those listings have since been removed from Ebay. I'm not entirely sure what our p...

Re: Discuss The MagPi - Issue 01 May 2012

If you open LXTerminal from the Accessories menu.

Type in:
setxkbmap gb

This will sort out your keyboard layout issue. Since you are running a 'livecd' this setting will not be remembered, so you will have to do that each time you start the virtual machine.

Regards.

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

The reason is that your Windows Scribus is the 2012 version. On Debian, you will have the one from 2008. We are re-creating all the templates for the older version, so that this won't be a problem.

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

Issue 1 started off as being a Microsoft Publisher file, which then became a series of AutoCAD drawings. By Issue 2, we were still using AutoCAD as well as a number of other packages, including MS Word, and starting to play around with Scribus. In Issue 3 we did nearly all of the magazine in Scribus...

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

Issue 3 is finished - and no I don't care about the correct way of referencing Microsoft Notepad for Windows, hence I haven't changed it. This is the part where you all rip Issue 3 to pieces for all the inaccuracies, inadequacies, spelling errors, formatting blunders and simplistic worthlessness. I'...

Re: The MagPi Magazine www.themagpi.com

The MagPi Team have a dropbox where all the potential articles sit. Once we have decided to include the article, it goes onto the Issuu draft ready for public scrutiny. We then work on it until the end of the month when the magazine becomes 'Final'.

We rely on people to highlight spelling errors etc and let us know, so please email or message us if you have spotted some. Unfortunately people seem to let us know AFTER the draft period for some reason. Ash is in Corfu at the moment, which is why he's not answering the email. Personally, I'm again...

It certainly wasnt 720p on my screen - It looked more like 320pixels wide. The mouse pointer used up about a quarter of the screen. Not sure what happened there. Do you want me to send that card back to you?

@antiloquax I had a look at the SD card you sent. It appears to be Puppy Linux, not Arch. The screen resolution was VERY low, which made it quite hard to use - Interesting though! @kirbyman As it happens the old MagPi website is still live - including the forum. It looks like it hasnt been used for ...
