I was sitting in PM with the guy I subsequently kicked (due to your complaint!!) so how do you want it? Should we say something on channel(I did), should I have said something in PM? (I did) or should I have kicked? (I did), so Which way would you like me to jump and how high? I was in PM with the p...
that looks suspiciously like a webcam lens mount, so small ccd/cmos sensor basically. You could still use that M12 mount and the existing lens in an afocal imaging situation but as you've already mentioned James, it most definitely wouldn't be ideal. The M12 doesn't actually have to be used to hold ...
Isn't the problem here entirely the broadcom gpu? So looking at other targets won't help, the roku (or is it roku2?) is the only other target on the market that uses the same chip as the pi, don't think it's running android though so no use at all. btw. the android image for the mk802 is on the foru...
My webcam still doesn't work properly :( I know loads of astronomers that would be very happy if it did. You can do astronomy with a webcam? Or it's being used to detect if seeing conditions are worth driving out to some location, etc.? If you're willing to spend a bit, and still frames instead of ...
My webcam still doesn't work properly :( I know loads of astronomers that would be very happy if it did. On the flipside, I've got a tiny 'edup' wifi dongle with a big fat antenna on it that works quite nicely, so things have improved for some things. I've noticed that I can 'kill' my webcam in the ...
I've shorted the polyfuses on my pi, the camera works plugged directly into the pi, moving a mouse is enough for the camera to stall at 160x120 and it doesn't display any resolution bigger than that.
nope, I believe the driver implementation changed somewhere and quite a few of the ioctls were lost/removed. I don't seem to recall having issues with the spc plugged into a usb2 hub, unless you're specifically talking about the pi? I haven't tried it yet with the latest raft of usb fixes but same a...
Stellarium just requires that Qt4 is compiled with GL ES extentions, then when you're compiling stellarium, it needs a switch to tell it to use GL ES too. I haven't done this yet but it should work reasonably well.
Well, like I said, the pwc driver based webcams that themos and I own have a very specific use case, I haven't looked into it too much but we are not using anywhere near the kind of data rate that most people would want so in theory, we probably don't need to do anything like the data transfer. We c...
The driver works, that's about all you can say, you can say it's stable on X86/A64 architectures and that bcm chip but that's about it :) You're quite possibly correct that the drivers are OK but not particularly on the pi, especially with the 'specialised' software that we're using and the out of s...
oh cool, at least you're getting better than 160x120 I'm guessing that the pwc driver is missing lots of stuff and hasn't had a great deal of attention in the last few years,it needs dragging up to date
Hi themos, fancy bumping into you here :D I have code for openPhd that should let us do long exposure, you can grab it from the openphd site from this post I made: http://code.google.com/p/open-phd-guiding/issues/detail?id=29#c7 So are you getting full resolution images from your spc webcam in the p...
obcd, agreed, there are lots of decent products coming out of china, that is undeniable, but these are cheap generic badge engineered hubs that are all over ebay, not ipads in the apple store
Actually, no :) That's not my point about the fire hazard, my point is that your milage may vary on the quality of the psu, it could be that poor quality that just through normal useage it's unsafe, I wouldn't like to see the same quality soldering and missing components that are on one of the hubs,...
Then of course there is the power supply, your mileage will vary as to whether you got a decent 2amp psu or a fire hazard. Morning Reggie. Even a 2 A PSU is underpowered for a 7 port USB hub. There should be, according to the USB 2.0 Standard, 500 mA on each port - so a minimum of 3.5 A would be re...
I think a lot of us are quite happily using cheap/clones/this actual one :) If I'd paid a lot of money for one, then I'd be complaining but I didn't and it works so I'm happy. Maybe one day I'll find that any of the little issues I have with my RPi were down to using this hub but if you can one wit...
I'm actually pretty disgusted with farnell that they sell those usb hubs, they come under many names but as has been pointed out, they use the FE1.X chips, they're hard wired to show up as externally powered, they usually have missing caps on the usb sockets, you get 5v backwash down the vUsb due to...
I'll have to try and see if I can reproduce the failure but I was able to coax a traceback listing after plugging in my bluetooth usb dongle. The main stack trace basically was REALLY unhappy about dma inside the usb stack it looked like... Once I get done building the USBIP modules I'll try and ki...
I've just tested with my webcam and a usb hub, no keyboard or mouse, connected via ssh, this is the result, http://pastebin.com/M8hJ05tq I'm shocked, 31? If I take out the webcam, I get 5 but I still get 4 'couldn't open device' messages (resolved those messages by using sudo on the lsusb commands),...
