Re: MGR996R rotation angle

Hi.

So both lots of code should be able to drive your servo , that's assuming you have it connected to both the pi and a power supply to power it.

may be if you told us whats actually happening and how you have it powered / connected we might stand a chance of helping.

Re: Forum page update

Don't think it's my broadband speed on a good 100 mb connection,
Just seems strange that no other web page is doing it not even the raspberry pi.org main page or subpages, it's just the forum web pages that are producing the affect.

And the forum only started doing it this morning.

Re: My Pi3B+ cannot import RPI.GPIO

Hi.

If you look at the package name in your first image you will see it's called RPi.GPIO

But you are trying to import RPI.GPIO

Capitalisation is important In Linux.

Try " import RPi.GPIO ". With a lower case i

Re: Raspi4 not starting after Update

Hi. So first thing to check if that the pi is trying to read the SD card, disconnect everything from pi and remove SD card , now power it up , you should see the greed LED blink 4 times then pause and then repeat the 4 blinks and so on. If its doing that then you know the EEPROM is ok , so then go r...

Re: Forum page update

I get that quite often and not just with this site. My guess is the browser gets most of the page, and renders what it has, before rendering it as it should be, is probably doing 'post download rearrangement'. I think what happens is the browser is getting the page content then stalling on download...

All morning when updating / refreshing or navigating to another forum page I have been getting a different page for just a fraction of a second before getting the page I was expecting. https://i.imgur.com/ppvZm5D.png don't know if its an indication of a problem on the forum or somewhere else but tho...

Re: (HELP ME) Broken IO pin

HI. So I assume you are talking about the pin on the gpio header, as long as your pi still boots then you can keep using it, this assumes there is no damage to the PCB, if you want to use the actual pin to connect to then you are probably going to need to replace it. may be post a picture so we can ...

Re: Project Idea getting feedback before I begin

Hi. So first of there are only 26 gpio pins that you can use so you would need to add more using for example a MCP23017 or multiplex the inputs. Secondly the pi gpio works at 3.3v and I suspect your call light system will be running on a much higher voltage and possibly even mains AC, so you would n...

Re: MG92B servo trouble

On reading the spec sheet it says you need 5V logic but pi gpio is 3V3. “ this servo requires 5V signals, check that your driver/microcontroller is supplying 5V logic as well as 5V power” Most servo's say they require 5v logic in the spec sheet but the pi gpio should be seen as a high even at 3.3v,...

Re: Use Regular Light Switch To Run Script on Pi When Flipped

A typical light switch in the UK would have 3 terminals marked common, 1 way , 2 way.

you could connect it to your pi gpio like this

Image

in code you would treat it just like any other switch

I have marked the positive on the diagram ( + ) is right next to the power supply, which means every thing connected to that point is positive.

Hi. I sounds like pulling the power to the pi has corrupted you SD card, it may have gone read only , not being a mac owner/user I can't say how the mac would report this. I have had success reformatting a corrupt SD card using a digital camera , as they tend not to check the SD card before formatti...

Not happy about wasting time commenting on outdated code. The answer remains the same. There is no assignment to start in the else branch of your if statement. So start might be undefined when its value is tested later. If it is important, give it a default value at the outset. Start is defined rig...

Re: Timed loop?

Seeing as they are only 3v then some thing like this will do as a power supply. examples only. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=3v+dc+psu&ref=nb_sb_noss for 1 motor 500ma would be fine, as the motors don't have a current rating but they are very small, you could even measure the current draw from a couple...

thank you a lot for the answers !! :D id like to know too, why is it normal to run a script when no pin is occupied i mean is there no risk when an output pin is emitting 5v to the void/air , and should i make pull up/down resistor for each input pin ? First off the gpio is 3.3v not 5v. if there is...
