Re: Audio Input w/ Pure Data: Frustratingly Close

I finally got everything working, and it was super easy. Here's what I did: 1) I bought a Wolfson Audio Card: http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-accessories/wolfson_pi 2) I downloaded a Raspbian image that has the Wolfson drivers: http://www.element14.com/communit...

Re: Audio Input w/ Pure Data: Frustratingly Close

Yup. I've done that. I've been running PD through a VNC client. I'm going to try running it in headless mode, but for some reason jackd won't work from the command line. I get an error saying "JackServer::Open failed with -1"
"Failed to open server"

Re: Audio Input w/ Pure Data: Frustratingly Close

So I played around with QJackCtl settings this evening (see attached image), and I've made some progress. I can now get glitch free audio going from the microphone to the speakers (which is a major milestone). The only problem is that I've still got ~300ms of latency from the microphone to the speak...

Audio Input w/ Pure Data: Frustratingly Close

Hi. I've been trying to get Audio Input and Output working on Pure Data for almost a year now (on and off with lots of frustration between sessions). I'm very close to getting it running, but I can't seem to get all the pieces working at once. I'd like some help. Here's a quick status on my setup: -...

Re: alsa audio-in with Pure Data and USB dongle

Have you tried playing with amixer settings from the command line interface? Something like: amixer sset Mic Capture 100% amixer sset Mic Playback 0% should do the trick. That said, I'm on this thread because I can't figure out how to get Audio In to work properly with PD, so I'm just guessing. I ju...

Re: New to Raspbian and Linux? Start here...

Here's a nice excerpt from the Debian administrator's handbook: CULTURE Flamewar, discussion that catches fire A “flamewar” is an exceedingly impassioned debate, which frequently ends up with people attacking each other once all reasonable argumentation has been exhausted on both sides. Certain them...

Re: USB Audio Noise with jackd and PureData (PD)

Update: I just did a fresh install of the latest version of Raspbian Wheezy (05-25), and now I'm getting glitch-free audio. I have no idea why this is working, but it is.

My wife told me "Ok, now stop touching it."

Re: USB Audio Noise with jackd and PureData (PD)

Yup - mine is like the one in the picture. I'm not connecting my guitar to it at all at this point. I'm just running a 440 HZ sine wave out of PD [osc~ 440] => [dac~]. The UA0053 is listed as one of the verified peripherals for the pi. I can try testing it directly with ALSA to take PD out of the eq...

USB Audio Noise with jackd and PureData (PD)

I'm working on a guitar effects rig by running Pure Data on the Raspberry Pi. I have jackd and PD running on the pi in headless mode (following all of the instructions from http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/raspberrypi ), and I am getting sound out of my logilink UA0053 ( http://elinux.org/RPi_Verifie...

Re: qjackctl and jack

I'm working with Pure Data, and after some fiddling about this morning I got audio working via JACK and PD. The key piece of the puzzle that I was missing was that JACK keeps running in the terminal window (it doesn't return to the command prompt) so I had to open an additional terminal window to ge...

Re: qjackctl and jack

Ok, so I've started from scratch with a fresh 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian image. From the config screen I enabled SSH on boot, expanded rootfs, moderately overclocked the pi, and ran the raspi-config update. That's it. Nothing else. From there, I followed the steps on http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/...

Re: qjackctl and jack

I'm still getting the bus error (see below). I'm thinking it might be time to try a fresh install of raspbian. I have band practice tonight, so that will have to wait a day or two. --- pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo apt-get purge jackd jackd1 libjack0 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree ...

Re: qjackctl and jack

First - thank you for the debug advice. This is great. Second - I'm still getting bus error messages (see below). My USB Soundcard is a Logilink UA0053. pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo apt-get --reinstall --no-install-recommends install jack d1 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading ...

Re: qjackctl and jack

Here's a complete dump of what I've told my pi to do and what it's decided to share with me (see below). There's definitely some nastiness in the pi response. I could use help deciphering it. I started with a clean Raspbian wheezy image, but I've done a handful of updates to get Tight VNC and Apache...

Re: qjackctl and jack

I'm trying to get the patched instance of jackd running on my pi, and it doesn't seem to be working. I've followed the instructions on http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/raspberrypi (download the repository; install jackd; increase the size of /dev/shm/; etc), but when I try to run jackd I get the bus ...
