rpi3 bluetooth serial

Hello! I'm trying to setup a bluetooth serial port on the PI3, but cannot manage to get it to work. In bluetoothctl I can find the devices (on scan), pair and trust the device, and connect to the device. Connection is successfull. However, I need to connect to the device over serial port. How can I ...

Motor controller

Hello, Im looking for a motor controller that can control the direction and speed of 2 or 3 different DC motors. If I am right the PI only has 1 PWM pin. Most shields I found use PWM to control the speed of the motor. What is the best alternative? I would like to use a python library if possible to ...

Great that worked. Thank you!

Sorry for not missing the post (thought it was a picamera problem instead of a GPIO)

My problem (see post) might be similar. Can you check how it performs for a 20 second video? I do not have this problem on a B+, am experiencing it now on a B 2

picamera circular buffer

Im trying to get the last 10 seconds of video from the camera using a circular buffer. I started from a picamera example with some changes. I already noticed in the documentation that the circular buffer will never exactly contain 10 seconds of video. My goal is however to have exactly 10 seconds of...

How do you check the size of the buffer? /what is your observation based on?

get volume from microphone

I managed to start an audio recording with a USB microphone. I would like to have a continuous volume measurement (level) from the microphone but cannot find anything related. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: ffmpeg split video

Thank you for that! For reference of others with the same question, here the part from the documentation: --intra, -g Specify the intra refresh period (key frame rate/GoP) Sets the intra refresh period (GoP) rate for the recorded video. H264 video uses a complete frame (I-frame) every intra refresh ...

ffmpeg split video

I want to split a 50 seconds video from the camera and save second 10 till 40. I use the following ffmpeg command: ffmpeg -i test1.h264 -acodec copy -vcodec copy -ss 00:00:10 -t 00:00:30 splittedvid.mp4 I get more than 2 seconds of black frames in the beginning, which is weird. When I use -ss 00:00:...

tornado send

I found this sourcecode online for connecting with a webpage. http://niltoid.com/blog/raspberry-pi-arduino-tornado/ That works fine but I have a while loop running in another file that outputs values. I want to send these values to the webpage (self.write_message). So my question is: I want to call ...

Re: Update my code

That's great. I don't have experience with git but thanks for the direction. I need to have the files private though so that not everybody can download them. I see that github requires a paid account to have private projects. Would something like rsync work as well?

Update my code

I have a full website (and python script) that run locally on a couple of raspberry pi's. The same script and website is running on another server. What I want to do is, on startup of the raspberry pi, check if there are any changes (new versions) on the server and if so update the raspberry pi. It ...

Re: Lightweight python motion detection

Very good, but I wonder how I can distinguish real motion from changing light conditions. When I tried it, the script reported motion on switching on a lamp. It depends a bit on what other situations are likely to occur. In case of switching on a lamp a lot of pixels will change in about the same w...

Re: MP4Box create thumbnail

I created a quick workaround because ffmpeg is really slow and has to process all frames up to the specified frame. It's dirty but for those who like to do the same thing: I convert the second of the video i would like to get the thumbnail from with MP4Box (which is really fast) and then run ffmpeg ...

MP4Box create thumbnail

I have a video from the camera board but would like to create a screenshot (thumbnail) after 3 seconds. I can not seem to find a way with mp4box. I tried ffmpeg but it looks like it first has to loop through all frames of the first 3 seconds which is really slow. How can I get a video thumbnail?

Re: raspivid 2GB size limit

I was trying to record a 10 hour video using raspivid but it stopped at 2 GB. The first and only relevant Google hit lead me to this post. I've been struggling a bit with it but don't know how to use it.
Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Record the past 5 seconds

Sorry if that was not clear. I am using one raspberry pi for motion detection. It has a socket connection to another raspberrry pi. If pi 1 registers activity it sends a message to pi 2 and I want this pi to record a video from -5 seconds to 25 seconds (30 seconds long). How can I always have a 5 se...

Record the past 5 seconds

Using motion it is possible to say create a video from 5 seconds ago and then for 20 seconds for example. Motion gives really poor quality videos though.
