Re: How good webrowser will the Raspberry give me ?

Are you looking for a dedicated media player or a "general purpose" system which can play media? Raspbmc is a dedicated media player that will do what you want - play movies and Youtube videos (and more) but it isn't a "general purpose" Linux system. It's possible to put together a "general purpose...

Re: Do you use a television set as monitor ?

I used my TV set initially, to get it running, mostly because that was the only hdmi screen I had available at the moment. Works fine, nothing wrong with that. (Except that it occupied my tv set.) For the project it's actually using a tiny 4.2" screen on the RCA connector, but that's not something ...

Re: How good webrowser will the Raspberry give me ?

is it less real, because it needs less resources? My experience is you will find browsers a little bit on the slow side on the Pi, Ipersonally wouldn't want to use it as my primary machine for browsing. I don't intend to use it as a primary webbrowser. Instead my intention is to see streamed movie ...

Do you use a television set as monitor ?

I would like to ask you who use the Raspberry for programming if you use a television set as monitor ?
If so how do you feel about that compared to using an ordinary VGA monitor.
I ask since as far as I see the option with composite video and RCA connectors will be what I will
have to use.

How good webrowser will the Raspberry give me ?

How is the Raspberry as a web browser ? I understand that it run Linux and therefore I can use web browser and surf on Internet just as a ordinary PC. But what limitations are there and what things will not work ? For example I have read that you can't run adobe flash reader (but why ? flash reader ...

Re: Is Raspberry Pi the best solution for this purpose ?

My impression from the answers in this thread is that my question should be answered with a NO.
I does not seem simple to get these things working. You talk about workaround and solutions that work bad. There are no support for Adobe Flash Reader. The first streaming I have access to use that.

Re: Is Raspberry Pi the best solution for this purpose ?

Can it run Adobe Flash Player ? I would need that for the streaming I have access to.
I read somewhere that streaming is one of its weak areas.

Is Raspberry Pi the best solution for this purpose ?

I have an old tube TV with only scart and composite video connectors and it's not HD TV. In addition to that I have two PC computers running Win XP and Win 7. My computers sits to far from the TV to be connected to it in a practical way. What I'm primarily interested in is a way to be able to look a...
