19" Rack Case

Hello everyone.. It's been a while since I posted here - new job, etc, etc - real life gets in the way! You may remember my work from here . Anyway, a friend and I have been working on a personal project - how to put my numerous Pis running XBMC/Kodi into my 19" rack to tidy things up. So, please al...

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

I've been trying to be productive and work around the debounce bug, so I went to Maplin and got a couple of 100nF caps. I got the last two in the shop! However, it hasn't helped. Do I need to put it between the button and GND, or between the GPIO and the button?

Cheers.

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

Thanks croston - I can wait for the fix!

Don't have any caps handy just now - might need to make a wee trip to Maplin this week!

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

I've broken it again, but I think it's because I'm calling other functions within my script. I'll wait for the outcome of croston's investigations...

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

If that's the case, what about adding an & to the end of your command to start the mplayer? That would tell the OS to run it in the background and return immediately. Just a thought. You've nailed it. I added an & to the end of both commands and now I have a reliable set of buttons. Thanks for the ...

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

I've done a little more testing tonight, and I've set the bouncetime to 60s. Still running into the same issue. I wonder if this is because MPlayer is playing endless web stream and preventing the callback function from ending?

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

That would make sense - for MPlayer to launch and start playing the stream it does take longer than the 1000ms specified.

Re: Can't get debounce to work..

Thanks Alex,

I'm using 0.5.2a - I was actually using the tutorial on your site to do this. You're right, it does error out with earlier versions of RPi.GPIO.

I've taken that bit of code out from the top of the script, but still getting the same problem.

Can't get debounce to work..

Hi all, First post on this forum - I'm finding it very useful! I'm a little stuck at the moment though. I'm building a wifi radio for use on a ward of a children's hospital. I've got the code to work to pick up an audio stream, but I'm having a problem getting the debounce to work with my buttons. W...
