Re: Tingbot and Tide - Pi + Python for IoT
Yes, sorry. I realise I should have consolidated them into one. I'll do that for any future posts and use this thread as the main one if there are any other queries.

Re: Tingbot and Tide - Pi + Python for IoT
I hope it's OK to post an update about the Kickstarter campaign. In a nutshell, the pledge goal was reached with 65 hours remaining before the deadline and, at the time of this post, with 62 hours to go. The 7th update has the details https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/744235676/tingbot-raspberry-...

Re: Tingbot and Tide - Pi + Python for IoT
A picture is worth a thousand words so this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZg8OIzVByM - shows how to setup Tingbot to receive data from If This Then That and make an app to display SMS messages on the Pi in just 12 lines of code in the Tide IDE.

Tingbot and Tide - Pi + Python for IoT
Pi Python coders may like to hear about a Kickstarter project that combines a purpose built screen and case (the Tingbot) with a Python IDE/Simulator (Tide) to develop/deploy Python apps for this standalone Pi - in effect an IoT device. Details are given on the Kickstarter page at http://kck.st/1MBD...

Re: ITDB02-3.2S (3.2" display)
I got a message a week ago from @xtramural that he got his ITDB02-3.2S working with the SPI interface circuit and the sainsmart32fb driver. He was looking into driving it with a latched 8-bit bus, but I don't know if he has succeeded with that. Sainsmart 3.2 post: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/...

Re: pygame.display.flip() doesnt work
Despite it's name pygame.display.flip() does not flip an image - it's just an updating mechanism so other steps will need to be taken to invert the image before blitting it. See http://www.pygame.org/docs/ref/display.html#pygame.display.flip for confimation. I've just rummaged through that site and ...

Re: Where do you want to see FBTFT go next?
Regarding your question: I certainly would like to see a latched setup to get better FPS from the 3.2" screen. Am I right in assuming the 10FPS you've seen with that module is with the SPI at 16MHz and not the 32MHz? Ideally, a similar framerate (25FPS) to the ITDB02-2.8 with itdb28fb could be...

Re: Where do you want to see FBTFT go next?
Another solution to increase performance could be to use two 8-bit latches, and drive the display with a 8-bit bus. The display would probably have a touch controller, so the SPI bus would have to be used. So the GPIO budget would be: SPI bus: 5 gpios Databus: 8 gpios WR: 1 gpio Reset: 1 gpio (some...

Re: 320x240 LCD with integrated SSD1289 controller
Hi mwilliams03 , @ Xtramural ’s, Where did you connect DC to? DC is the Data/Command selection so hook it up to the RS pin (pin 4) on the TFT. I suspect that one reason my circuit may not have worked is the lack of oomph (the technical term ;)) on the Pi 3.3V pin - limit is 50mA - as I'm also using ...

Best wishes for your studies. WIth that level of enthusiasm and motivation you're sure to do well. Re: 320x240 LCD with integrated SSD1289 controller
if you have connected correctly the LCD as my circuit it should work. Please pay attention that you should not connect LCD's reset to shift register (4094) but to +3.3V through ~10k resistor. Hi valodov , Like others with the 40-pin variant of the LCD display - for instance http://www.ebay.com/itm/...

Re: Christmas Lecture - Raspberry Pi and Arduino
Forty-three minutes into the Christmas Lecture is a demonstration of a number of the (arduino-based) 'gadgets' that were produced last year for the Embedded Systems class at the University of Strathclyde. Eight minutes after there's a brief introduction to the current gadget ideas. One of which is t...

Looks like the sdhci-bcm2708.sync_after_dma=0 is the culprit. The errors/failures happened with just that option added: Thanks for testing. No problem. Happy to help. I meant to mention that without the sdhci-bcm2708.sync_after_dma=0 option I get my usual dose of 'missed completions' but this seems...
