Thanks, I have been doing some research and there seems to be several implementations of the "LinuxPPS" daemon which works directly with the kernel.  Then fire up an ntp server and you are good to go.  I wish I had the components so that I could bash on it this weekend.

Hi, Keith here from the midwest US.   I have been in computing for 30+ years and yes I started in cobol on punched cards.  I am a linux admin and would love to use the raspberry pi as an interface between weather instruments and the internet.
