Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

I'm finding that if I go into the tab menu on a game and change the "General Settings" (I can't remember the exact option - there's an option to change keybindings for just the current game, and another to change keybindings in general, it's this one I'm referring to) the settings aren't remembered...

People have gotten this to work as a "generic" emulator and solutions have been posted on the PiMAME forums (http://pimame.org/forum/)

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Silly question, I see that whenever I press 5, it favorites the game by making it green on the list, but how do I switch to display just favorites? Did I miss something? Is it supposed to do that? While I agree it would be a nice feature to be able to toggle between lists, I viewed it as a way to f...

FortyRock, glad you enjoy it! How are you using a mouse in your cabinet? I disassembled a Logitech Trackman and incorporated it as a prrmanent fixture into the panel. Looks like a small trackball. Pic isn't the greatest and the cab is still a work in progress, but it's on the bottom just left of ce...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

OK, reverted the firmware, but can confirm it makes no difference to the lack of sound I'm experiencing with certain games using Mame4All. This *has* to be a bug in Mame4All somewhere. The fact I have sound at all shows it can't be a hardware problem. Have you tried a different cable or even a diff...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

I'm having trouble getting the mouse to be recognized (have tried Logitech Trackman and Microsoft USB mice). They work fine in X and other emulators, but nothing in mame4all, even in mouse enabled games. Looking at the input controls for the games, TrackX/TrackY options not even listed. mouse=yes in...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

FortyRock With regards to Robotron, am I correct in assuming u are referring to coloured “Static” then a black screen that says “Factory Settings Restored” then it hangs? If this is the case, it isn't a bad ROM Dump, ALL the Williams 6509 Based Boards do this, (Defender, Joust, Sinistar etc) it’s a...

On the topic of buggy roms, any idea why robotron blue sometimes crashes to black screen/static when launching? Exiting and relaunching then works.

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Nope, done all that. Tried Mame4All from the Pi Store and compiled from source. It makes no difference. The romset I'm using has been tested by others as working with sound. I really, really don't get this. I get sound in every game using AdvanceMame, so the problem is not the Pi, meaning it HAS to...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Wow, Pudding - great support you're providing!

I was messing around with the code last night for kiosk mode myself. I changed exit to alt-esc and am trying 5 presses of tilde to shutdown. Still a work in progress though (key releases are tricking me up).

How does yours work?

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

As an experiment, are you willing to try using the PiMame 0.5 image and then installing this? PiMame image is at http://socialcase.com/raspberrypi/pimame-0.5.img.beta.zip (don't worry about it being beta-that's just the PiMame code). Also, what sound device are you using? Lastly some roms need the ...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Re updates, why not get the from git (the zip file)?

Re supported games, the code is from circa 2000, which is why it support less. And also why it's usually faster (less bloated).

I'm unsure how to remove/uninstall displmanx - can anyone advise
"sudo apt-get install --reinstall libsdl1.2debian"
will overwrite the dispmanx binaries.
(To reinstall them afterwards, just do "make install" from the dispmanx source dir again)

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

For those with Console/composite problems, have you set overscan in /boot/config.txt? Commenting those out seems fix the black screen isue. You, sir, are the man! Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Nice one FortyRock! SDL is very buggy on the Pi. The latest Raspbian image has problems with SDL video init on the console and composite. Looks like the SDLdispmanx backend may have fixed that. I'm not using SDL for graphics but it has to be initialised to get the SDL keyboard input. UPDATE 2: Got ...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Really excited to try this out, but haven't had any luck. Both the precompiled binary, and one I built myself, both segfault after the standard disclaimers when run via the console or from within the X environment, with or without the GUI.
