Welshy - disk images are actually really easy to find... IF you know where to look!

http://www.cpcgamereviews.com/ has reviews and images for 1700 games. Just click the game title to download the disk image.

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

I'm finding that if I go into the tab menu on a game and change the "General Settings" (I can't remember the exact option - there's an option to change keybindings for just the current game, and another to change keybindings in general, it's this one I'm referring to) the settings aren't remembered...

Try putting single quote marks around the directory path:

CONTENT_ROOT='/home/me/Ka_Videos/'

or failing that, try double quotes.

Re: Windows Emulator on Pi

I've had the best results on SNES emulation using PocketSnes, which is the SNES emulator included with RetroArch. If I were you, I would try installing RetroArch as the SNES emulator is good, and it includes emulators for other systems, which you can to install or not as you want.

Re: Sd-card get small after imagewriting

There are two things going on here: 1. The pi image expands onto the SD card as TWO partitions. Windows will probably only be able to see the first, smaller, partition that contains the boot information. This contains the config.txt file and the partition is only about 55 - 90 mb big. 2. The second,...

Re: Problem compiling kernel; No .IMG file!

I've used linux for 15 years or more, I've never compiled a kernel, its something few people do, cross compiling from an alien architecture is even more obscure although fully understandable with a Pi. Do you have a particular reason to want a different kernel ? I've compiled the kernel many times ...

Re: Problem compiling kernel; No .IMG file!

I'm following this guide for cross compiling on OS x, here: http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation#Cross_compiling_from_OSX And everything seems to work ok, until the end. The guide says "The fully built kernel will be arch/arm/boot/Image.", but at the end of my build (no errors) there is no kern...

Re: Problem compiling kernel; No .IMG file!

try using dd. on a raspberry pi, it works like this: cd image file path sudo dd if=image-file-name of=dev/sd-card-id bs2M THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE PROPER CODE. I just did this from the top of my head. (derp) god luck. Eh? This has nothing whatsoever to do with compiling a kerne...

Re: Switching to soft-float

I don't believe it's possible to switch, I think you have to install the soft-float version of raspbian (or whatever OS) specifically. You should be able to create a text file listing all installed packages using: dpkg --get-selections > ~/Desktop/packages and then something like: sudo dpkg --set-se...

Re: Some idiot put Raspbmc on my camcorder

As a guess, your camcorder's hdd is probably formatted as FAT32. I expect to fix it you just need to reformat it as FAT32, which you should be able to do in either Windows or linux. You'd probably want to use fdisk first to delete the partitions and create one single partition and then use something...

Re: superuser password

I wish to point out that the whole idea of sudo is brain-dead [*] and is needlessly confusing for beginners. It leads to such abominations as "sudo echo 1 > /sys/something" (Permission denied, because the redirections is done by the shell before running sudo). I.e., you can't just stick "sudo" in f...

The current password it's requesting is for the user Pi, not for superuser (root).
The new password will be for root.

Just in case anyone else is wondering, quitting the emulator with escape, rather than just turning the Pi off, does seem to save the game as expected.

Re: how to transfer a SD-8g to a SD_4g,only used 3g space

Use gparted to resize the partition so that it's only 4gb in size. Then use dd to write the image to a file. Then use dd again to write the image to the 4gb SD card.

This is for linux. I don't know how you'd do it in Windows, I don't use it.

Save games in Mario World / PocketSnes

Hey, I'm finding that when I use the built-in save mechanism of certain cartridge games in PocketSNES, like Super Mario World, it doesn't actually save my progress. I.e. next time I play the game I get offered three blank save slots rather than 2 blank and one with my saved game in. This is the buil...

The link you've followed does not show you how to do what you need to do. What you need to do is expand your root partition, not create a second partition. I'm afraid I can only provide instructions for Linux (on another PC, you won't be able to do this from the pi as the partitions should not be mo...

Re: How do i get on the internet?

Plug an ethernet cable between the Pi and the router. Then run: dhclient that should request an IP address from the DHCP server. If it says "command not found" try using dhcpcd instead (the two tools do the same thing). Then run ifconfig and see if you have an IP address. If that all works then you ...

Font thing resolved here: https://github.com/Aloshi/EmulationStation/issues/64 On Arch, you need to install the font with "pacman -S ttf-dejavu".
