Re: NES + Raspberry Pi for retro gaming and media center (Difficulty Moderate)

The original NES is just too bulky and the pins are always shot. What I'd prefer would be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N.....l_NES-101) the top loading NES, though it might be harder to fit a R-Pi in there.

I'm pretty sure that the Directfb makes this possible.
It even has a Qt back end.
Although I haven't used it.

Everybody who is in a state like this should just take a deep breathe, and then go read a book and forget about the R-Pi until it comes out.

Re: Need for an App store for RB programmers

I don't like the software center either because it's really dumbed down, but it is android-like. I hope the R-Pi doesn't aspire to be android (shudders).

EDIT: I run Arch Linux and install all my software from the command line.

It isn't beatiful like android market, but it's ready to use.

But the Ubuntu Software Center is (surely there'd be some way to either clone that or install it on Debian):

<t>Why not have a testing repository for software that hasn't been "approved", and then once it is and has been well tested it goes to an unstable repository and then to a stable one. Kind of like debian works now. If people want bug-free software they'll go to the stable repo, and if they want expe...

All this talk about Basic makes me wonder what's wrong with the shell.

I mean it already is a REPL and it's very very useful. From the shell you can do just about everything in linux. You can even write shell scripts.

But they\'ll have a buy one give one at first, so perhaps that will curb people\'s urge to buy it, or maybe it won\'t.

My brother had a laptop with a webcam on it and one day he was using it and the camera took a picture, then the \"hacker\" set his desktop wallpaper as a photo of him with fangs and red eyes. To this day he still doesn\'t know who did it and neither do I. He got rid of his webcam after that.

What login manager and os are you running?
Well regardless, the easiest thing to do is just uninstall the login manager.

A lot of window managers also have a kill x key combination.
