Re: Locally installing STEAM OS and STEAM Games

Unless Steam explicitly states ARM as a compatible platform it won't work. But even then almost all games wouldn't work because they'd have to be compiled for ARM as well which I don't think they are. Your best bet on ARM are open-source games and emulators.

Re: filesystem write files - after reboot the old data is ba

Sooo... Three days later. I managed to find an older version of my development SD card and cloned it onto the SD card of the system that was showing this weird non-write error. And guess what - after the dd, the SD card still had all the old data! Like the dd did not happen! Somehow it fools the ub...

Re: Virtualisation?

Xen and KVM should be possible on RPi 2 and newer, you'd just have to make sure the kernel is compiled with the correct settings and that the Pi boots in HYP mode. Maybe these links can help: https://mirage.io/wiki/xen-on-cubieboard2 https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/kvm-working-on-the-cubietruck/

Re: Is there a Pi Minecraft PE server that actually works?

Nukkit works well but just like all the other servers it's not feature complete.

Re: OpenArena

With the experimental OpenGL driver included in the latest Raspbian Jessie image it's possible to play OpenArena again. Simply activate the driver in raspi-config and run the game installed with apt-get. I spent some time fine-tuning the config of OA. It has a lot of settings which are not accessibe...

Re: Want to make a Space Exploration Simulator....Dont know

Thanks for your suggestions, lots to think about and this is definitely something that will teach me a few things and advance my programming. I am surprised that there is hardly anything of this sort on any gaming consoles, or mobile apps, Noctis was good in terms of the game design but the graphic...

Re: Want to make a Space Exploration Simulator....Dont know

Is this Do-able? I know it would take a lot of time and hours, I am prepared to put the time in to it, but need some other people to help and get involved. Sounds like a project which can be realistically achieved by a single person in a reasonable amount of time. Usually the most time consuming ta...

Re: Minecraft Spigot Server 1.8.8 HELP?

I ran a server on a pi b for some months and I can tell you that it can run at an ok-ish tps but eventually I switched to an Odroid U2 because the performance did not satisfy me (e.g. Chunks loading too slow when logging in, sometimes causing death) Anyway here are some tips to improve performance: ...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

1. This is correct. Not sure why it doesn't work. Can you try another game such as bloboats with glshim (sudo apt-get install bloboats)?

2. No problem. I'm going on vacation now so I won't be available for some time. Maybe somebody else can chip in.

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

Not sure about that. I see a white window for a very long time until it segfaults. Feels like it's loading the map but doesn't show the logo. It may crash when it finished loading the map and starts to render in 3D.

I don't know. I'm not into graphics programming. You could ask Lunixbochs (called 'aegis' on this forum), the author of glshim, if he has an idea.

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

1. Did you make the script executable with chmod +x glshim.sh 2. It doesn't matter where the sources are as long as they haven't been moved after the build. Try the full path to the source file. You should also start with the linenumber of the first line that belongs to R_Init() (first line after th...

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

I built AC myself. With glshim it loads for a very long time and then segfaults. Debugging with gdb didn't provide any useful information. Maybe glshim just isn't ready for Assault Cube yet (supported calls here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-kNLvmh08Vg_k6sbjMhw20YOY7gBHndSgLVE0KTjU2k/edi...

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

I updated my glshim script. It now pulls from the unstable branch which contains 150 new commits. You should give it another try with the updated script. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=116416&p=792906#p792906 the usual segfault still comes. is this even possible at this poi...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

1. Looks like when built for the Pandora it makes use of specific system functions so this won't work.
2. Try again with my glshim script: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=116416&p=792906#p792906
3. Change the file path so it matches the correct path.

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

Compiling code usually isn't difficult unless the code has been unmaintained for a long time or specifically designed for another platform. Good projects offer build instructions in a Readme or on their page.

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

Ok, thanks for doing it. I wasn't 100% sure if CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE is case sensitive or not. We still don't see the line in the code where it crashes. However, R_Init() is defined in gl_vidnt.c and initializes the renderer. So we are a bit closer. Three things to try which come to my mind are: - start ...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

Sorry, I made a typo:
It should've been

Code: Select all

-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug
instead of

Code: Select all

-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=DEBUG
It looks like your code is not compiled with debugging symbols because otherwise bt should show in which line of the source code the program crashed.

In this case you probably have to compile Assaultcube yourself with debugging symbols for further investigation.

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

In that case you have to recompile it with debugging symbols and run it in gdb for debugging. Do this: cmake -DHL_SDK_DIR=PATH_TO_HALF_LIFE -DXASH_SDL=yes -DXASH_VGUI=yes -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=DEBUG then re-run make. After compiling finished start the game this way: DEBUGGER=gdb $HOME/Desktop/Xash3D/xa...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

This requires further debugging but the output isn't really helpful. Could you check if this gives a more extensive output

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/Desktop/Xash3D:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH ~/Desktop/Xash3D/xash3d
Assuming ~/Desktop/Xash3D is the game's root directory.

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

Easy to fix:

In engine/CMakeLists.txt

Change

Code: Select all

set (CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS "${CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS} -w -msse -msse2 -O2")
to

Code: Select all

set (CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS "${CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS} -w -O2")
then re-run cmake and make
