Re: Video Analytics and Intelligence

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I think even though OpenGL can provide some GPGPU capabilities, but it is really not meant to be used for this purpose. Its optimal usage is for rendering application. And I had lots of problem with different concepts in OpenGL such as textures and shaders.....

Video Analytics and Intelligence

Hi, I have seen different software that perform some soft of video analytic. A such example would be doing a face detection, and drawing a box around the face in the video, while the face is moving around. I know that there are special/dedicated hardware that do such things, but I don't understand h...

Re: OpenMAX: How to decode a JPEG (example source code)

Hi, I have been using this code, and it works great and is very fast. However, I believe there might be some bug in the code. All I did, inside the hello_jpeg.cpp, I am looping around "DoIt" function for a very long time. I put a for loop around this function, and looping it for 100000 times. But, e...

Re: hello_pi example errors

Update:
I fixed it. For some reason the memory split for the GPU has to be 128. I had it to set to 32, and it didn't work.
Once I brought it up to 128, it works fine now.
Well, so the lesson learned: use a split of at least 128 if you want to run hello_pi examples.

hello_pi example errors

Hi, Can someone tell me if I need to do anything special to get some of this example codes inside "hello_pi" to work? when I go to 'hello_pi" directory, and when I run the "rebuild.sh" script, it keeps building everything, and I don't get any errors, while building. However, when I try to run few of...

Expensive computations with OpenGL

Hi, First of all, I really want to thank the people on this forum, who has been extremely helpful in answering all sorts of questions that I've had so far, and speeding up my learning curve. To all the coders experienced with OpenGL: I would need some direction, since I wouldn't want to spend time t...

Matt, Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I just read the document, and unfortunately, it seems it is the case. I am still looking into a way to bypass the ARM. By the way, well, since it is really helping me to learn, if it is okay with you, could you make part of the code available, or some hints, s...

Hi everyone, I read this post, which was extremely helpful: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=15463 In the specified post above, it talks about how you can set the color format, and here is the official example: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc-rbp/blob/master/xbmc/cores/omxplayer/O...

Re: OpenMAX: How to decode a JPEG (example source code)

update: Inside the Makefile, I changed "gcc" to "g++", and it compiled fine. Now I notice that this is a 32 bit RGBA color space. When I changed the color format to 24bitRGB888, I get the following error: Got execption: OMX_SetParameter falied Any idea, what is going on? Has any one tried to change ...

Hi, I have downloaded your code, and have been following your instruction, but when I place it at the right directory structure (as you suggested), and issue the make command, I am getting the following error; MXComponent.o: In function `OMXComponent::GetParameter(OMX_INDEXTYPE, void*)': /opt/vc/src...

I can always try to download eve...

Thanks for the reply. Okay that makes sense, but I guess my question is more about understanding how OpenMAX is able to off load tasks to GPU when appropriate? network camera very slow

I have a Dlink network camera, when I connect it to my pc it does live streaming with a decent frame rate (~30frame/sec). I understand that Pi's Arm processor cannot keep up with a decent frame rate, but once I connect to Pi it is supper slow, by supper slow I mean it is probably 1 frame every 5 sec...
