The amazon issue is only a firefox issue not a chromium issue. I think it is related to the arm firefox version?

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Issues With Formatting SSD as Ext4

I am using a sabrent adapter without problems. Try USB 2.0 before buying another adaptor. If it works with USB 2.0 and not with USB 3.0 and you are daring enough to do an unrecommended rpi-update you could post if this solves the problem, like it did it for me or if it bricked your raspberry pi if i...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

sorry, that is what works for me. I use my pi without a case and i added a old heatsink as well

Code: Select all

arm_freq=1400
like I said the downclock to 1400 lowered the temps about additional 8 degrees here

75'C heavy video streaming and browsing (83 without the downclock).
62'C idle desktop

Re: [PI4:] how do I move the filesystem to a USB stick/Drive

Perhaps it worked only on my pi because I did a (unrecommended) rpi-update. (Because after I tried other firmware, it did not work on my pi too). Did you try the USB 2.0 ports also. It worked on USB 2.0 even with the testing firmware on my side. I found this information helpful for my transfer to ss...

Re: [PI4:] how do I move the filesystem to a USB stick/Drive

(I only had to change the entry in the cmdline.txt file to the new device "root=/dev/sda3" in my case after I used dd to transfer the filesystem to the new device.)

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

A slight downclock to 1.4 Ghz lowers the max temps substantially (about 8 degrees less on my box) with no noticable effect on my desktop experience. (I like to play music on youtube and browse at the same time in seperate windows. That way I dont run into throtteling or temp warnings.

Why would you like to do this?

It is actually a very neat idea. I like the light pi desktop and the no nonsense design very much and would enjoy to use it on my linux computers over the slightly bloated gnome desktop ;)

Re: New to Raspberry Pi - What do I need to buy to assemble a decent computer?

A decent desktop PC needs a SSD ;) (about 25 bucks with SATA - USB 3.0 adapter)

But you do not need one to use your computer. I really like and recommend the official power supply (EU in my case) and the official mouse and keyboard.

I broke my small rpi heatsink from my rpi3 and put it on my new new rpi4 (hitting 79C during chromium video but no throtteling or temperature warnings. The small heatsink is quite helpful.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 temperature

The testing firmware is not working on my system (root on ssd was no longer getting to the desktop, hang after the 4 raspberries). SSD Sata to USB 3.0 does not work correctly with the testing firmware on my pi 4. I recovered by reinstalling raspian to my boot ssd. Using temporarily SATA to USB 2.0 (...

Re: Fastest Micro SD card for Pi 4? Does it support XC U3?

Perhaps this is also an option to consider: The fast sd card is 19 bucks. You get SSD drives new for around 15 bucks. An SATA USB adapter for around 8 bucks. Boot from sd card and put your root filesystem on ssd. If you do not mind the space. Performance is eye opening. Just did this on my new Pi 4 ...

I love my Raspberry Pi 4. I ordered the 2 GB version, mouse and keyboard with US layout (lovley set, but where is the insert key? :ugeek:), hdmi cable and EU power supply. The Pi provides a very nice experience on my 2560x1440p monitor. First step on all my computers after setting up the OS: Install...

Re: Pi3 speed compared to Pi2

Java performance is much better on the Pi3 versus the Pi2. The KGS Go Server client cgoban.jar for example is actually usable on the Raspberry Pi 3. Silent Go playing on my Raspi and no need to install Java on my Win10 Box. :D I should have waited for the arrival of my Pi3 before I ordered my N3700 ...
