Re: No internet sites

This is screwy. I can't ping anything!! And yet the wifi is getting authentication from the router. Plugged in an ethernet cable and the wired connection works. Downloaded the Gentoo image again and started from scratch. Same result! Even tried connecting to the "Guest" ssid on the router. Same thin...

Re: Bootable 64-bit Gentoo image for the RPi4 released (Xfce4 desktop)

I tried this latest version on my new Pi4 4gb but encountered a problem with the wifi. It allowed me to connect to my wifi LAN but it won't connect to any internet site. I tried to ping other devices on my LAN but get no response. I changed the local in RPI config from UK to US but it didn't help. e...

No internet sites

I'm a long time debian user but arch and gentoo are new to me. I'm trying gentoo on my new Pi4 for the first time and I'm trying to get my chromium browser working. I have my wifi connected but any site I try in my browser times. Also, is there some tutorial that would help me to learn gentoo? Thank...

Re: RPi4B ... NO DISPLAY/Video ????

Before tarring everyone with the same brush, your situation is unusual - most people have no problems setting up their devices. So, you tried it on someone elses HDMI monitor and it worked fine. that means the Pi itself is fine, and the setup is fine. So it's going to be down to your particular mon...

Re: New Pi 4 4gb no HDMI

Panic over!! I found the setting in config.txt for monitors that don't respond properly on boot with the correct info. Have to unremark the line in config.txt "hdmi_safe=1". Now it's working with all of my monitors.

Re: New Pi 4 4gb no HDMI

I'm using the one closes to the power connector which is supposed to be the primary. But I have tried both. Now I've discovered something that really upsets me. I have a third monitor that I use for my main desktop. The Pi 4 is working on that monitor. If this is "normal" and not a defective board, ...

Re: Youtube playback very slow in RPI4 2GB

Hello ! I just bought myself a RPI4 kit and I am currently testing it. Even if the desktop experience is smooth enough, I am very suprised that the video playback in chromium is very poor. 1080p is playing, but not in fullscreen, so 4K is inaccessible and I had high expectations on that point. I am...

New Pi 4 4gb no HDMI

First off, this is the 4th generation of Pi that I've owned, so I'm not a noob. I just received my Pi 4 and recommended PSU from PiShop US. I've created both a Raspbian and Gentoo SD card with new 32gb class 10 cards. At first I tried using a 12ft HDMI to HDMI Micro cable, but each time I tried to b...

Re: Charger vs PSU

I'd disagree - I think it is a design flaw, just not a particularly heinous one, with only a tiny impact. How small does a flaw need to be to no longer be considered a flaw? It can technically be a flaw, and in this case, because the "fix" would have been simple, an unnecessary one, but IMO, such a...

Re: Charger vs PSU

I just got asked again on Quara about when the USB-C port on the Pi 4 was going to be "fixed". Well, IMO, it doesn't need fixing because it isn't broken. So called "Smart Chargers" are designed for devices that have batteries so they can be charged at a faster rate without being damaged and catchin...

Re: Charger vs PSU

No, I think the "fix" is referring to the issue that a high-end USB-C charger such as the one from Apple, do not able to power the Pi-4 currently available on the market. It is not about how "smart" of the charger can charge quicker or not. Read what you wrote "high-end USB-C CHARGER". The Pi 4 doe...

You are using a 2.4Ah battery. Your laptop is using a 52.5Ah battery. See the difference?
Even 9 cell laptop batteries are only 6600mah. That translates to 6.6 ah. Nowhere near 52.5 ah. I think you misplaced your decimal point.

I am totally new to Rasp. Bought rasp pi 4. Chrome doesn't work with netflix. Installed Firefox and Netflix plugin and it works.
Chrome only works with 64bit OSs and Raspbian is 32bit. But Chromium works and there is very little difference. It will sync all of your Chrome info.

making web site https

I have my Pi 3b setup up as a web and ftp server for my own private use. If I'm am the only one using it, do I still need to make it https instead of just http? And the same for the ftp? If so, where can I fine a tutorial to do it? There is no sensitive data that I fear being stolen. I just don't wa...

Re: Just bought Raspberry Pi - can't get past yellow/red/blue/green screen?

I would suggest, that with your apparent tech level, you buy an SD card with RaspberryPi "noobs" pre-installed. Just google "sd card with noobs for RPi".

[Off topic] Why isn't there a decent Android emulator for x86 Linux?

Why isn't there a decent Android emulator for Linux. I can run Android apps fairly well on a cheap Dell 11 Chromebook. And I can do it a fairly low end Window machine running Memu. But I CANNOT find a decent way to do it my Ryzen 8 Core, 3.5ghz with Vesa graphics and 16GB of RAM running Mint 19.2. :...

Thank you so much for all the help! :?: No one has actually given you an answer. The calculated example is exactly that - a mathematical answer and is worth the paper it’s written on (no disrespect meant). The calculated example(s) tell one the necessary parameters and the procedure to find the ans...

Re: Remove delays for USB only boot or switch USB to be the first cheked in boot sequence

All it takes is having a tiny vfat boot partition on the SD card with a config.txt file pointing to the SSD's boot partition. Then, instead of waiting for a no response from the built in boot order, it reads the config.txt file from the very first device it tries and immediately goes to the partitio...

Re: Wireless display

Not enough info. I'm assuming you are connecting the sensors to a Pi via the GPIO pins and want to "display" the readings remotely. How remote? In the same room? In another country? How many digits? What kind of accuracy? How often? Once an hour? Once every millisecond?
