Re: Error importing pygame in python 3

Thanks for the responses. vinntec, I tried the instructions at the link you provided. It didn't say where it should be run from so I ran it from /usr/include/python3.2. The first line ran but had several errors for files not found, including rpi1_armhf.deb. Running the second line got an error "hg n...

Re: Error importing pygame in python 3

I'm using python 3.2.3, the standard one that comes with the current raspbian release. I notice that there is a pygame directory under the /usr/include/python2.6 and /usr/include/python2.7 directories but not under the /usr/include/python3.2 directory which I assume is relevant to this problem. Has ...

Error importing pygame in python 3

The statement

import pygame

gets an error

ImportError: No module named pygame

Works fine in python 2.

Re: Simple print question

You're right techpaul, I was using python 3 syntax in python 2. I found typing "python3 file.py" instead of "python file.py" into the terminal window I am using cured the problem. I suppose I should find out what Idle and Idle3 are and learn how to use them.

Thanks for the help

Simple print question

I want to print a line without a trailing linefeed. The tutorial I am following says to use

print (i, end="")

but this gives me a syntax error. How do I do it?

Thanks in advance

Re: Setting the keyboard type

I had the same problem and fixed by following the instructions here:

http://elinux.org/RPi_Beginners#Keyboard_layout

I used the 2nd option, editting /etc/default/keyboard and changing XKBLAYOUT to "us"

Re: Cutting back the number of daemons running

Thanks for the reply, malakai. I played around with it and have to agree with you, not enough reduction in memory usage to make a noticeable difference in performance.

Thanks again

Cutting back the number of daemons running

How do I find out what services are running, what they do and remove the ones I don't need? Also if I need a service which is not being run at boot time, how would I start it when I do need it? For example, I have installed printing (which works fine) but I only need it occasionally. So before print...
