Re: Making a laptop

Thanks for the replies. I only asked because of having this old laptop available. If it's going to be that much work I won't bother. I just didn't want to waste it if I could use it.

Making a laptop

Ok so here is what I have, a Compaq Armada 4160t laptop and a Raspberry Pi Model B. I would like to drop the guts on the laptop and use the Pi. I can rewire the speakers to plug into the Pi and also allow the Pi to connect to external speakers. The main problem is the display. This is an old Laptop ...

Wifi Access Point

I'm trying to set up my Pi as basically a wifi extender. I will hookj up an ethernet cable and then broadcast using wifi. My signal at my router drops off on the opposite side of the house so I want to extend the range. What I would like to know is how to set it up to accept a wifi signal and use my...

ACPI monitor shutdown

I am trying to figure out a way to have the monitor shutdown like most desktops after a period of inactivity. I've tried the Power settings and Screen saver Advanced settings in the Settings Manager but all I can get is the monitor to go Screen blank. I understand that the Pi has no ACPI, but is the...

Re: Why port android. Why not port the apps?

Could there be a way of installing the apps in a system like wine for windows software? I'm not a programmer so I'm not aware of the intricacies of the software. I've seen a software being created for windows that will run the android apps just not sure if there is anything like that on linux that m...

Not enough power?

I have been using the Pi for various setups in my house. I just tried running the Pi in my sons room on his TV. I plugged the USB into the TV's USB header for power (mini USB Power cable) and plugged the HDMI cable in and got no video. I had to shut the Pi down so I plugged in the standard video cab...

Re: Fastest, "best" SD card for Raspian Wheezy?

I have an 8GB class 10 card from Staples. It only cost $30 (US) and it's pretty fast in my opinion.
