Re: Audio and MMAL

That's correct. Rather unbelievably, the cost of the codecs licences on the GPU for the audio was too high - higher even than the much more complicated video encoders. Thanks, I could see from the header that various audio encoders could be supported by the GPU and I was wondering why they were not...

Audio and MMAL

I have been looking at the the MMAL API and I notice that it does not support audio objects.
I assume therefore that for any audio I want to encode I will have to use the main ARM
processor rather than the GPU?

Yes because the Hauppauge does hardware MPEG2 compression so there is considerably less activity on the USB interface.

Re: Hauppauge PVR-USB2 MPEG-2 Capture.

I am afraid I don't know, I have only tried using it for video capture.
All the driver support is there in the Kernel so it should be possible
to use the tuner for broadcast reception.

Re: s2-liplianin compile anyone succeeded ?

I have got a bit further, the support required is for the Montage M88DS3103 device. There is a patch file in the Raspbmc distribution which I applied to a standard 3.6.11 kernel and built it. The PI now detects the the DVBSky S960 and the little green light on the receiver comes on. However it won't...

s2-liplianin compile anyone succeeded ?

Hi, Has anyone managed to compile the s2-liplianin package with Raspbian wheezy? If so how did you do it? I am trying to add support for a DVBSky S960 DVB-S2 receiver. I know it can be done as Raspbmc supports that tuner. I have installed the source using `apt-get linux-source` and followed DVBSky i...

Re: Hauppauge PVR-USB2 MPEG-2 Capture.

Well I fixed my problem with my HVR-1900 , I didn't have
all the firmware files installed. Note to self always read the
dmesg output very carefully!

Re: Hauppauge PVR-USB2 MPEG-2 Capture.

I am getting the same problem. I can configure the PVR via V4l without an
error and I can open it without error but when I try to read data from it I get
Input/Output errors. The same code on a PC Linux system works flawlessly.

Re: You wanted MPEG-2? You've got it!

Yes, you will get a raw H.264 bitstream from the GPU. It's up to your arm code how that is packaged. I would imagine libavformat (or similar) will handle packetisation into program/transport stream format. Thanks again, I have already written C code that formats and manipulates Program/Transport st...

Re: You wanted MPEG-2? You've got it!

Is there any chance that MPEG2 encoding will be available in the future? Not possible I'm afraid. The only encode the hardware supports is H.264 and MPEG4. And only the H.264 is enabled. Thanks for the info Dom. I assume I would have to format the output of the H.264 encoder into a program(me) stre...
