Re: ZeroW crashing when streaming over network

looks like its clock speed related. my uncrashable zero runs at 50-54c but my zeroW runs a good 10c hotter. i've underclocked the zeroW to 800MHz (scales down to 700) and its not crashing now, although still gets up to 68c. 900mhz gets up to 74c! so do i need to send my zeroW back as its defective (...

ZeroW crashing when streaming over network

This is a follow-up thread to the original thread/github issue when i believed it was a raspivid problem, it now looks like its something kernel or hardware based, possibly specific to network load, definitely specific to the zeroW. Basically what is happening, is that when i am streaming video from...

Re: ZeroW crashing running raspivid

yes sounds like a good idea, i'm pretty sure its the hflip/vflip, so presumably a camera module driver bug or something edit: can only get it to crash when using flips and outputting to hdmi (i have no monitor plugged in) its pretty reproducible. using "-n" (disable hdmi preview) i can't seem to cau...

ZeroW crashing running raspivid

My ZeroW is crashing when running raspivid. i haven't noticed it before, but today i'm using hflip and vflip, perhaps its overloading the gpu? the command i'm running (from a systemd service, this is stretch) is: raspivid -t 0 -w 1920 -h 1080 --hflip --vflip -fps 30 -b 2000000 -o - | gst-launch-1.0 ...

Re: 15 to 22 pin fpc connector adapter pinout?

Why does it need to be the same? As long as the pin pitch is correct (0.5mm) and the contacts are on the right side you can pretty much use every 0.5mm pitch connector. I prefer using FH28 (if possible) since the have a nice lid (flaps and not slides). It's your own design, so you can choose whatev...

Re: 15 to 22 pin fpc connector adapter pinout?

just got a couple of samples from molex - part number 0545482271 isn't the same as on my pi zeroes. the black retaining connector (that snaps off easily!) has curly legs on it to lock it in place on the samples, well on my zeroes its just a straight pin. even the cream plastic bit is pretty mismatch...

Re: camera module mmal error - help!!

i just got this error. i broke the connector off my pi zero and when hooking my camera back up to the B+ it used to be in, it no longer works. i can only assume if the zero connector breaks it fries the camera module as the software hasn't changed at all in the B+. # vcgencmd get_camera supported=1 ...

does internal motion detection work yet on jessie? i can't get it to work with timelapse - i just get the regular 3sec pictures whether there's a change in the photo or not. how is it supposed to be configured, maybe i'm doing something wrong, i assumed you have to have both timelapse and motion det...

Re: Backing up Pi as a compact installation file

compress the dd image using gzip (or bzip2/xz if you have the time) i've got 8gb sdcard images that weigh in at 1.3gb and 2.6gb compressed. dd is the only way to guarantee a bootable backup without a fair bit of scripting. i tend to setup my pi, dd the sdcard and then use rsync (either remotely from...

Re: Official V4L2 driver

where are we at regarding streaming - do we have a way to stream h264 to a html5 browser yet, perhaps using ffmpeg or gstreamer? i'm not interested in mjpeg.

all the tutorials seem to be for the old raspivid or uv4l2 implementations, is nobody using the official v4l2 driver?

thanks for that, answers my question - the B+'s improved audio still isn't good enough, so i'll stick with my B and a DAC

i don't understand that. i'm asking if the B+ really has better audio than the B via onboard not USB. i.e. is the B+'s onboard as good as the B with a DAC?

Re: Do we still need a USB DAC with the B+ ?

yeah the whole point is that i have three B's and don't want to buy a B+ unless the onboard sound is at least as good as the B with a USB DAC. the B without a DAC is useless i'd say. i've already got two USB DAC's so don't want to buy an i2s one, plus i need access to my gpio pins so the wolfsam is ...

Do we still need a USB DAC with the B+ ?

Has anyone with a model B+ fed the analogue output to an amplifier and speakers? Is it loud enough and not crackly? Do we still need a USB DAC like with the model B? Just thinking of my internet radio project - if i got a B+ and could do away with the DAC I'd have less wires and free up a usb port t...

Re: RF Transmitter FS1000A control up to 1000 Channels/Items

i've seen them on ebay, but i won't buy something if i don't know how/if it works. your relay module in the single listing looks different to others on ebay (same as your 5 listing), so i assume you've added a microntroller to expand the number of channels possible, which would make them incompatibl...

Re: RF Transmitter FS1000A control up to 1000 Channels/Items

i'm interested in this but don't understand how you can use one transmitter to control 1000 devices, as usually these modules (e.g. with remote keyfob or learn button) only have 4 codes.

i'm not really looking for anything too fancy, i'd rather it be thin wood e.g. under 1cm thick (not balsa!) but i'll probably paint it matte black or something anyway for the final version. i'll keep looking, there's an offcuts place around here somewhere, or i may even try the highstreet for a good...

i've moved on a lot with my radio project too ( blog ). i figured out the hum was a ground loop from the usb hub, so i've removed the hub and added an amplifier which can power the speakers directly (removed from their usb-powered casing). i've noticed that the wifi dongle seems to be using up a lot...

Re: Tips on making a wooden box

B&Q was totally useless, nothing smaller than a M5 nut/bolt, and no small/thin wood. apparently 4/40 screws should fit and possibly the standoffs/screws that come with motherboards, so i'll have a look around the loft before resorting to fleebay.

yes i think i'll try metal nuts/bolts and just be mindful that the cap is no larger than the gold circles. to a degree i want to be able to reuse the parts from my prototype in the final version, so i'm going to have a look around screwfix/B&Q etc. on the weekend and compare to ebay.
