Re: Jessie Q&A

Hiya! There's a new raspbian image out since 2017-01-11, but the release notes have not been updated. When CM3 was announced a few days later I thought, ah, that new image has support for CM3 and the release notes were kept back not to spoil the real announcement. Isn't it time now to release the no...

Re: Raspistill preview with 16:9 ratio on PAL composite disp

First of all: hardcoding your two lines works, my problem is therefore solved. Moving on to the learning (or practise) part: In fact I'm no real newbie to programming (having started on a ZX81), Ah the 16kB wobble-pack! Mine has the 16kB extension built-in :-) Any mods to the raspicam apps have to m...

Re: Raspistill preview with 16:9 ratio on PAL composite disp

You're too kind! In fact I'm no real newbie to programming (having started on a ZX81), but I'm quite uncomfortable with everything that starts with "C". First half of your excellent advice is done already. Eventually I might dig me through so to have it imagemagick-like, that an appended "!" to the ...

Re: Raspistill preview with 16:9 ratio on PAL composite disp

Thank you for the quick reply!

I read it like anamorphic preview can be done (with reasonable effort) for raspivid, but not for raspistill. Probably I'll set the display to pillarboxed 4:3 for now, maybe I'll try to fiddle with sources one day...

Re: Raspistill preview with 16:9 ratio on PAL composite disp

Hmpf... The mentioned line does fix a bit of a preview problem, but not for all cases. I'd like to also save full-sensor jpegs, for which I'd need a pillarboxed preview. This seems not to be possible with current raspistill.

Thanks! You're right. The Zero is described as being 0.5cm thick. It would fit if you stuck the stamp on the Zero without any packaging... But I doubt you would have much fun with it when it arrives ;-)

So it seems Element14 is trickling Zero's in its distribution channel. Right after the Zero was announced for the first time, element14 had it listed and accepted orders. If I check prices for the Pi2B at the german sites I find: farnell 32,87 € RS 29,58 € Newark (US branch of Farnell): $35.00 Allied (US branch of RS): $35.00 I would suggest that the differences you are seeing are related to currency exchange rates. Re: Zeros Now Available

Thanks for pointing me to that thread! The mentioned "foreseeable" ends in my opinion when stock lasts from one production batch to another. Then the "one piece per customer" limit will be lifted, and distributors can start selling packs of 10 or 50 or whatever. I keep my fingers crossed for this to...

required to to sell at RRP ( too little profit) 1) isn't true - element14 and RS don't call the same price. It does not differ a lot, but that's probably a result of competition, not manufacturer regulations. ..for Pi Zero it seems to be. So that might be the problem: The distributors can't sell e....

The display says Watt, not VA. According to the manual this is the 'real power'.Nico Yes, as it can also display power factor it really should be able to display real power. This is no display sleep mode, it is the kernel screensaver. You can disable it like

Oh, and if you don't need touch: Some people have complained the glue coming off. You could try with moderate heat (like 50°C) and gentle pulling for some hours or some days to remove the front glass, the touch glass, or both.

Re: Can the front black frame be removed

The front glass is not the touchscreen, it is a decorative frame. The touch glass is behind that glass, but not at the center. If you want to try that you can cut the front glass a bit smaller. Just holding a ruler near the glass I'd say you could cut off like 4 and 11mm at the long axis, and 6 and ...
