Re: Minecraft

Not sure if anyone has considered it, but there is a version of Minecraft Classic on the Nintendo DS called DSCraft.

As the DS is Arm based, would this be a more viable option to look into porting?

Re: Isn't this all too complicated?

<t>Lynbarn,<br/> <br/> I was trying to cut down on the number of SD cards. Working off my youngests year group, there was approx 120 kids, so a different SD card for each setup, gets out of hand. If the government make programming compulsory for the first 3 years at secondary school, that's a hell o...

Re: Isn't this all too complicated?

<t>Would it be possible to have a Grub/lilo type program to offer various enviroments at boot time? Similar to how most Linuxes list available OSes and a 'Failsafe' linux. A bit like the old Spectrum 128K gave the choice of 48K Basic, 128K Basic or Tape Loader.<br/> <br/> Surely it can't be too hard...

<t>Not sure if I'm the only one, but every couple of days I get persistant HTTP 500 Internal Server errors. This happens when moving from the home page to forum, then when selecting different forum threads. Not mentioned it previously, as it usually passes after an hour or two, so just come back lat...

Re: Teaching Programming - How will it all work?

<t>Hi all.<br/> <br/> When I was at school back in the 80s", we started out with Basic on old PET 2001s". When we took GCE Computer Studies O Level, we had to write 4 programs as part of the course. IIRC, first was a simple input 2 numbers, choose add subtract etc and then get the result. This cover...

Re: How would you use a Raspberry Pi device?

Probably the same as most to start with, Media/NAS. Would also look into possibility of connecting to my old 8/16 bit machines in a similar way to the u1541 type devices, replacing a clunky 1541 floppy drive etc.
