Re: Puppet-agent 5

I have had a look at the packages from the links you gave (thank you ). It still looks like it is an older version of puppet as it referances puppet-master. However puppet master has now been replaced with puppetserver in 5 onwards. Still no sign of puppet agent 5 in there either.

Puppet-agent 5

Hi guys , just looking at installing and having a play with puppetserver and puppet-agent 5. The reason for this is that the company that i work for has now (finally) upgraded to puppet 5 from 3.8. I know there are some differences so want to get a feel for it. So got my spare pi3 out and added the ...

Re: A little help with minidlna server

i would say remove it all full and try again so

sudo apt-get remove --purge minidlna

then reinstall

sudo apt-get install minidlna

once the service has started then you should be able to see it on the network with out setting up the config file.

Re: A little help with minidlna server

OK then something is possibly blocking it broadcasting on the network ,

First we need to confirm that the service is running .

if it is then , what router do you have. as it could be that multicasting s disabled on the router.

Re: A little help with minidlna server

if you have an android or iphone, you can install an app from the app store that should be do the trick. just search for dlna and there should be a few options.once installed it should scan your network and show minidlna if its available to the network.

Re: Need help setting up Minecraft 1.12.2 server on Model 2B

I would suggest starting with one question at a time. Google is your best friend with the questions you have asked. i would start with getting the basics of your pi done. for example getting yourself familier with ssh from putty. I set my static ip in the router its self as that was a 2 second job f...

Re: synchronize files on pi with windows

I think there is ways you can look at doing this. The first would be to map the smb drive on your windows 10 machine. Then have a batch file that runs on boot for changes and copys them over. alternatively you could look at using rsync on your pi to push to the laptop when available. I am sure while...

Re: Gitlab on rpi stretch

I had this running on my pi3 , didn't go well the load went through the roof and it struggled with even ssh on to it.

i would recommend gogs instead thats what i went for in the end and runs nicely out of the box.

Re: Video on Deman - 35-40 users on RPi 3

you could possibly look at some kind of media server instead something like minidlna which is light weight. That might be a better option , depended on your needs.

stretch : gdbm fatal: malloc error

Hi guys,

I have just upgraded to stretch and when ever installing anything I am now getting this error.
If I update the mandb. I get the same error.

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo mandb -pq
gdbm fatal: malloc error

Any ideas on how to fix would be great thanks.

Off the top of my head you could possibly use some kind of rsync client on your android phone to retrieve the file via SSH.

Re: Record IP Cam on Pi3

The first question really would be does the Camera require any extra software on the PC to connect to it. I think this part is key to how you implement the record function. As you could look to write a python script to use openCV to record the stream. So it really depends on how the IP camera stream...
