Re: Ronview 4" touchscreen issues

Are you just trying to copy by dragging with file manager or are you using the recommended sd card image writing software to write the image to the sd card. I bought this display but got no software with it at all and cannot find any tutorials to help get it working. If you had any success since pos...

Re: Nas/vpn help and advice

Anyone got any advice on this? I have a similar question. I'd like to power an external USB HDD and 2 or possibly even 3 TV tuners. As far as I can see the four hubs on the PI 3 will only supply a max of 1.2A which will probably be insufficient perhaps (hard to get solid data on TV tuner current con...

Re: Can not set up VNC server to start at bootup (solved)

I followed the suggestions on this page but when I try to start the server from command line with x11vnc -forever -display :0 I get this error; x11vnc was unable to open the X DISPLAY: ":0", it cannot continue. I would have thought that this means it cannot connect to the main desktop session. I do ...

Re: No access to internet via wireless

I can give more detail if required, but for bridging I used this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFLtw0uxDYY and then followed the instructions on the RISCOS desktop for networking. Worked right away but I didn't try to see if I could use other network facilities, although I think you can as it...

Re: Using a wireless mouse and keyboard

After having no problems with a wireless mouse and also a combined keyboard/track-pad I bought a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse combo with single nano receiver. However when I move the mouse it works for about half a second then the entire RISCOS OS/Pi locks up. If using Raspbian the mouse wo...

Re: No access to internet via wireless

Price seems to fluctuate slightly for some reason, when I bought it it was £15.29, It's now as I look £15.09 and yesterday it was £14.xx. So not varying much but strangely moving about, perhaps linked to some sort of live exchange rate ? Also the software comes on Mini-CD for the PC. If this is an i...

Right this arrived today and had it up and working with RISCOS on the Pi in about 10mins. Re: No access to internet via wireless

I've ordered a cheap wireless bridge, I'll post back if I get it to work successfully. In the mean time I've configured my wireless enabled laptop as a bridge to the LAN socket on the Pi. This was because my broadband router is in the centre of the house but not conveniently near anywhere where I co...

Re: Design flaw? Polyfuses for USB current limiting

When I first got my Pi I spent a long time trying to get it to work correctly with a powered hub and wifi dongle and it seemed really unpredictable, eventually I gave up thinking I was being a bit thick and left the Pi on a shelf for a while, but still frustrated I couldn't get it working as I neede...

Re: Python Image Library (PIL)

Right, I've sorted this, turns out there's a "python-imaging-tk" module that needs to be installed as well. In fact from a new install of Debian squeeze this appears to pull all the other required packages. I had to install xterm as well but then my project ran fine.

OK, I tried following this thread

http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... vnc#p93572

but still can't get any joy, after some surfing tried adding user pi to plugdev group but still no go. Just how do you access a usb drive from a vnc login ?

Re: How to find out which window manager is being used

Yes, it's on the list, it's a WG111v2, I had to chuck my powered hub in the bin though as I think it's an issue, will need to go through the list of known hubs that work and buy one, but for now I've spent a small fortune on extra kit so it's going to have to wait and stay wired to the LAN.

access usb memory stick from vnc

OK, I can access the memory stick with my normal logged in account when connected to my TV. But when I put in my stick when using VNC it appears in LXDE in file manager but when I try to look at the contents it just says "not authorised". How do I get it to be ok to access for the vnc user (same log...

OK, it ran for a bit then spat this out; /opt/vc/sbin/vcfiled: error while loading shared libraries: libvchiq_arm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory If no errors appeared, your firmware was successfully setup So obviously an error, so not updated. Re: GPU Version

Thanks for that, I looked back at what I'd typed in my command history and it looked good..... I then looked again at the page https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update, the font used on that page makes it very difficult to type the right URL, for example I'd put a "l" (lowercase Letter "L"_ when actuall...

Never mind I've just found out that you cannot install the KDE software, nor the Gnome, so I'm researching other options.

I need to install Debian network manager software to configure my wireless USB dongle, the Debian page says I should choose either gnome version or KDE, would the KDE version be suitable for the Pi's LXDE ?

Log out of VNC session

How do I log out of a VNC session. I try to use the logout option from the GUI Menu but I click it and nothing happens, stays logged in. If I close the VNC window with the close button does it log me out of my desktop session on the Pi or is it still using up resources ?

OK, I think the Debian Squeeze that I've got is using Gnome, can someone confirm ? But also how do you find out from command line or within the desktop environment if I didn't know ?
