Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

I have an interesting issue whereby audio goes down different HDMI ports on the RPi 4 depending on whether I'm allowing passthrough or not. My situation is that I have a Raspberry Pi 4 with a 4k monitor on HDMI 0, and my audio receiver connected to HDMI 1. The reason for this is that the audio rece...

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

But all I did was follow the instructions in the first post. I didn't type 'unstable' into the repo manually. I wonder what could have happened? I'll try and change it to buster.

Re: [Guide] Kodi on Raspbian Buster

Thanks for setting up this guide :) Unfortunately I'm stuck on the first set of installation instructions. When I try to install Kodi I get: Err:1 http://pipplware.pplware.pt/pipplware/dists/unstable/main/binary libshairplay0 0.9.0+git20180824.096b61a-1~stretch 404 Not Found [IP: 176.221.32.193 80] ...

CEC then trigger a command

I've searched the forum and Google to see if it's possible for the Pi to execute a command after a CEC signal is detected but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I wonder if anyone on here knew how to or could point me in the right direction. The scenario I'm looking for is one where the Pi rece...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Rejoiced to soon about the CEC aspect! That seems intermittent - it only seems to last for about a minute before it stops or if I turn off my TV :( Still I'm very happy with the separate hdmi situation. And it's a starting point with the CEC....I'm sure I'll solve it somehow :) Anyway this is the Ko...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

Thanks. Yeah they were but I knew there must be a way to separate them. Just solved my problem using recommendation from 6by9 in this thread: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=249204#p1526690 I now have hdmi0 going to my tv with cec working and hdmi1 going to my amp. Very happy...

Re: Kodi 18.3 Leia for Raspberry Pi 4

It's great to be able to use Kodi Leia with Raspbian so thanks for all the hard work getting it to this point. Eventually I would like to use one hdmi port for my amp and the other for my tv. At the moment if I use hdmi0 for the amp and hdmi1 for the tv this works for everything but Kodi. Basically ...

I put a 'time.sleep(.2)' after the 'pass' and that seems to have stopped the problem :)

Re: Python script crashes if it can't connect

And so I rejoiced too soon! My problem is mostly solved. The only issue is with buttons I use for the amp where they have a command linked to each press eg ontouch switches the amp on and then onrelease switches it off, so one button does both off and on. Well now the when I press the relevant butto...

Re: Python script crashes if it can't connect

Thank you MrYsLab ever so much! That link really helped and I seemed to have solved my problem! :) Now my code is: @touchphat.on_release(['B']) def handle_touch(event): print ("Party Time") try: my_kodi.Player.Open({"item":{"partymode":"music"}}) except: pass And so far....so good!

Python script crashes if it can't connect

I set up a touchphat hat which adds some buttons to my Pi zero and it works well on the whole. The only issue I have with it is the Python script that works with it. My script switches on and off my amplifier over Telnet and this works well most of the time. But if for some reason there is a problem...

Re: Call a python script on another pi over local network

So after reading most of the information on the gpio zero page I'm still none the wiser on how to edit my script for transmitting the 433mhz signals on the Pi server so I've had a look at thagrol's suggestion with os.system solution. I've got this working and can now execute the python scripts on my...

Re: Call a python script on another pi over local network

Yes I have buttons on my pi zero in the kitchen (I say buttons it is a Pimoroni Touchphat to be precise). My pi 4 is my server which has the rf transmitter attached to the gpio pins. It switches on and off lights around my house.

Re: Call a python script on another pi over local network

Thanks for that Joan. I'm starting to grasp this a bit :? I think I was hoping for it to be a bit simpler....my knowledge is quite basic. I have a script already on the pi server that send out the signals using the rf transmitter attached to certain pins (see my last post). I'm not sure how to make ...

Re: Call a python script on another pi over local network

So I've read over the remote GPIO page. It seems to be talking about executing python scripts on the client that execute actions at the pins on the server Pi. Currently I have a script on the server that looks like below...but I'm not sure how to change it to use on the client. Any help appreciated....

Re: Call a python script on another pi over local network

Thanks Joan. So that is a manual daemon command? It seems to have worked. I typed in the command. I restarted Kodi and my music seems fine.

How can I issue that command to come on at startup?

Thanks thagrol, I may try that one later I'm giving the remote gpio thing ago first but I've come up against a problem! Call a python script on another pi over local network

So I have a touchphat on a Pi Zero and I want one of the buttons to execute a python script on my Pi 4 server. The Pi script on my server then switches on and off the lights. I've spent a long time on the web looking for solutions and programs like Fabric and Paramiko. I found one page with some exa...

Re: PI4 USB3 Port and Logitech Keyboard Wireless Range

Thanks rpdom, you are a genius! The usb lead fixed my problem! I now have the usb3 hub plugged into the usb3 socket on the Pi and my Logitech receiver plugged into a usb cable that goes into a usb2 port. Range is back to what it used to be! Must have been a interference problem rather than power then?

Re: PI4 USB3 Port and Logitech Keyboard Wireless Range

Thanks for the responses :) The unifying receiver is plugged into USB 2. I'll try the extension idea and see if that helps. I did wonder if power was an issue... But it's never been before with Pi 3 and stretch. USB hub has its own power supply and the issue occurs even with just one hdd attached.
