Re: A zero-frills LAN-only Media Server using DLNA and Apache serving .mp4 files from a low-cost low-power Raspberry Pi

It is just an example project for the Pi4, based on a "minimally changed" version of google sample code at https://github.com/googlecast/CastVideos-chrome

And it has just been updated to include Skip Forward and Skip Backward buttons in this example.

Re: seeking downloadable media player "skip" icons ?

ok ! thank you for your suggestions, I'll look into them :) 10 skip option buttons?? Yep ... there was space to spare, so why not fill it with something useful for a user ? I know that I have oft rued the lack of options on user interfaces and perhaps may have alluded to "simple options from simple ...

OK, per https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=260845&p=1590809#p1590677 here's a few results, first Pi4-internal read/write copy speeds, then network (5Ghz WiFi on a nearly silent Gigabit LAN) read/write copies. The robocopy network-copy elapsed times are shocking. Will try normal ...

Re: Issues with samba guest account

I have found that samba is particularly slow, for some reason. Especially when copying large video files around. are you using RPi1B (c)2011 for your NAS? if so I'll understand that however if you're using RPi3B+ or newer boards then I disagree with your claim I have test results posted here in the...

Re: [SOLVED] Apache2 multiple VHosts on LAN not working

Mine isn't that fiddly, but it does work when being accessed either by IP or by hostname (not a full fqdn).

example code in here: https://github.com/hydra3333/Pi4CC

glad you got yours working.

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

Good news! On raspbian buster with the pi 4 you no longer have to compile ffmpeg or mpv. The repository versions of ffmpeg and mpv will give you a hardware accelerated mpv that will give you a resizable moveable minimizeable windowed output The cpu usage is a little higher than with the mmal overla...

OK, I ended up using pymediainfo to obtain .mp4 video/audio attributes in Python3, per the example code below. It couldn't be easier. First, setup the Pi sudo apt install mediainfo pip3 install pymediainfo Then, invoke pymediainfo methods per the example code below (which includes commented-out debu...

A zero-frills LAN-only Media Server using DLNA and Apache serving .mp4 files from a low-cost low-power Raspberry Pi 4

Hello. https://github.com/hydra3333/Pi4CC is the basis of a personal DYI Raspberry Pi 4 home LAN server. It was tinkered with simply as a learning exercise with the Pi. It needs more work, but the basics do work ... and it is VERY basic ... it's a lot more "secure" than PlexMediaServer or Kodi, in t...

Well, example 2 above lacked case-insensitive dictionary sorting, which led to interesting results. Example 3 below fixes that with a lambda, thanks to a kind soul on stackexchange. Anyone ... Yes, that's the one.

Wasn't sure
- if it's in a repository or something nowadays for buster
- if it's safe (not allowing vendor intrusion into the home LAN, like Plex Media Server)
