Re: mjpg-streamer start on boot

I think I've sorted it, in true noob style I changed a bunch of stuff and so I'm unsure of what fixed it. I think that you need to stick a sudo in front of the mjpg streamer command, eg sudo LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib mjpg_streamer -i "input_file.so -f /tmp/stream -n pic.jpg" -o "output_http.so ...

Re: Not whole script is executed when system starts.

Code: Select all

mjpg_streamer: command not found
I have a similar problem that gives this error too. Did you say that adding sudo to that line sorted it? Was that in rc.local or the shell script? It shouldn't've made any difference if it was in rc.local, as that runs with su privileges anyhow.

Re: mjpg-streamer start on boot

Yeah I've got the same issue.

Btw helpful if trying to get people to debug your code try putting in the error message.

As you say, it runs ok once you've logged in, before that nothing. Rather frustrating.

Python PiCamera view stream on webpage

I would like to send the camera capture as a stream to a web page at the address of my pi using picamera. Eg to view the stream I'd just go to 192.168.3.1:<a port number> or something along those lines. It does not need to be accessed from outside my network (ie no forwarding or whatever). How would...

Re: Using VLC to stream from the camera - Help needed

Has anyone tried doing this with the pure python interface?

And could you do it so that the pi is a wifi access point so that to view the stream you just connect to its wifi and open up the webpage?

Re: Camera board hanging with red light on

I'd recommend you to buy a new camera. I managed to kill two by letting them flop onto the pi, exactly the same issues. Bit of an expensive mistake, so be careful!

Re: RC Steering servo with pigpio issues

Ok I have made a very simple mistake. I was powering the servo from two AA rechargeable batteries. These will produce 1.2V each, rather than 1.5V you get from alkaline batteries. This explains why the servo was misbehaving! I hope that others do not make the same mistake as I do.

Re: RC Steering servo with pigpio issues

By max min values I assume you mean the range? I thought that it should work ok given it is a standard hobby micro servo using the standard values from pigpio.

RC Steering servo with pigpio issues

I'm using pigpio to control the servo on the rc car that I am building. I think that the servo has <180 degrees of rotation, but I'm not quite sure. Basically I'm using pigpio's built in servo function, sending 1500 as neutral and up to 2500 for clockwise and 500 for ccw. However, when the servo is ...

Re: Using pyserial to transfer data via XRF

From reading the ciseco docs I think that the XRF sends and receives messages in LLAP format. However, I didn't really understand how I'm meant to send messages in LLAP. Does anyone have any help?

Re: Using pyserial to transfer data via XRF

Thanks very much for the reply! It's not that, though :P The port reads fine when there is nothing sent, returning ' '.
However, I still have the same problem. Is it a unicode character? Do I need to decrypt the output?

Using pyserial to transfer data via XRF

I have a small python program that writes a 4 digit number to the serial port every second, using pyserial. I have connected an XRF module (from CISECO) to the sending pi and another XRF to another pi. However when I try and loop port.read() on the receiving pi, I get weird output: '\xe0\' and '\x00...

You'll want to have a look at this if you're controlling it with a joystick. If it would be helpful I'll post a youtube tutorial on how to do so

Re: Robotics Noob, Need help and advice

I'm currently working on some RC stuff with the pi, and so also have the issue of power. What I've done is I have a LiPo battery (used in most rc cars and planes) that's connected to a motor and speed controller, and a UBEC that means you can use the Lipo as power for the pi. However, I think this m...

Re: Controlling a brushless motor with a joystick

@alexellis: The code that I was using was pigpio, a library that can be downloaded from http://abyz.co.uk/rpi/pigpio/ Though there's a long list of confusing commands, the actual interface is pretty simple. If you're using C, use these in a program: gpioInitialise() // starts the program gpioSetPWMr...

Controlling a brushless motor with a joystick

Hey guys,
Just started a new youtube channel detailing some of my projects.
First video is here, showing how I've set up my joystick to control a brushless motor using pigpio:

Re: Powering Quadcopter and Pi from lipo

So now I've got some things up and running , which is good. Just a few notes on powering the pi from the LiPo: 1) Will the BEC in my ESC compensate for power drops/surges? 2) The wires in the micro usb cable are red, black, green and white. I assume I use the black and red ones, but they are of a ti...
