Browser Download Problems

I have been having problems downloading files in Midori. I don't think I have been successful downloading anything using Midori as yet. I just discovered that Netsurf works fine for downloads and also seems to work a bit faster than Midori. I have been trying the same sites etc in both browsers. Net...

Trouble Downloading in Midori

I don't seem to be having any success downloading in Midori.

No particlular site(s) are implicated just that I click on save as and the download just sits there
and goes nowhere. I end up with a dl file with 0 bytes.

Are there settings for dl somewhere in Midori ?

Sound on XBMC ?

I am using Rasbmc installed from the new NOOBS recovery system which writes a stand alone xbmc image to the SD card so as far as I know I have no access to any linux terminal or cli interface. I installed the You Tube add-on in xbmc and played a couple of videos which work OK but with no sound ? Is ...

Re: You Tube videos Display poorly in Ice Weasel

And how do we go about installing webkit and making it work ?

I followed the instructions over at git hub which were
next to useless and it didn't work as advertised
just like raspy tube and yt and other duds.

Re: Does Raspy Tube work at all ?

I thought I could fix the problem by removing and reinstalling omxplayer with apt-get but after doing this omxplayer would still not work. Also the formatting of the lx terminal window was being messed up and my keyboard would stop working until I logged off and relogged in with startx. So I gave up...

Does Raspy Tube work at all ?

I have installed raspytube according to the instructions here and appears to have worked. http://www.raspians.com/Knowledgebase/how-to-watch-youtube-on-the-raspberry-pi/ Raspytube supposedly uses youtube-dl and omxplayer and even though it runs and looks good it simply didn't work for me. It indicat...

You Tube videos Display poorly in Ice Weasel

I just installed Ice Weasel because others have said it supports HTML5 and should be able to play you tube videos. Well it kind of plays them but very badly at that. After first stating "Missing Plug In" the playback starts and the video comes through very slow and the audio is too soft to hear but ...

Re: Avatars

I guess there could be kangaroos in London zoo and yes I am down south so to speak, way south and way east of you. Try Australia and we have plenty of the two legged hoppers down here ( we come from a land down under - ava vegemite sandwich if you like ) although I must admit it is quite a zoo these...

I have been messing with other stuff and haven't had time to get my avatar sorted out. I had problems getting it down to the right size etc ( don't know why - graphically challenged ! ). Today with some fresh inspiration I finally cracked it. It is a comic image of a kangaroo driving down to the bea...

Use Leafpad to Speed Text Box data entry when Browsing

Mostly so far I have been using Midori to surf since I started using my Pi and raspbian back in December 2012. Running rasbian on my R Pi B is akin in my mind to the days I used to run Windows 98/Millennium and performance is on a par with the fastest Pentium 2 system or a lower level Pentium 3. I a...

MP4 AV Playback works on Omxplayer without license ?

MPEG-4 or MP4 is clearly a patented AV format. I have downloaded quite a few MP4 videos from youtube and they play quite well with omxplayer. ( is this because of low resolution/frame rates ?). I realise that many of these videos have been ripped and had their encryption removed ( unsure about exact...

Re: Playing DVD movies on the R Pi ?

I wasn't aware that the USB on the Pi supports USB 3.0 ?

From what mike and others say on the thread above playing dvds requires
a fair bit of work.

But I'm up for a challenge so I'll give it a crack.

Playing DVD movies on the R Pi ?

I have an old DVD rom drive ( Panasonic/Matshita I think ) which came out of a Toshiba Satellite lap top and this works OK via USB on the Pi ( for reading files etc ). Is it possible to play DVD movies on the Pi or would the USB 1 or 2 interface be too slow for this ? If it is possible is there any ...
