Re: Gertbot relay control

For connecting a 12V relay you should use an open drain output.
The following diagram with the abstract from the manual should hopefully get you on your way:

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

If this is a hardware-related problem, why does it happen only on Raspbian Buster and/or RPi 4, and not on Raspbian Stretch / RPi 3? I don't know. Maybe they use a different drive strength for the GPIO or the Pi4 PCB has the tracks thinner and closer together. It can also be that there is more or d...

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

I have seen an 'issue' being raised on the github of the VGA666 adapter for this. I commented there and closed it as I know no solution, hardware wise, which can be done about it. The effect is called "bitcrawl" and has been present from the first version. It is mentioned in the assembly/installatio...

Re: STICKY: Using a Gert VGA 666 adapter - [HOWTO]

Let's assume a low quality screen like VGA: 640x480 at 30 FPS. Disregarding any blanking time the pixel frequency would be 9MHz which is 108.5 nsec. So NO, 150ns is too slow. (Unless you wan to fall back even further to CGA) A modern resolution screen like 720p50 would require (1280+370)x(720+20)x50...

Re: Gertbot

Follow the image in the advanced manual chapter 2 to set the two board ID's you want. Any board ID is OK as long as they are not the same. To check if you have set the board ID's correctly you can start the gertbot GUI . When you connect the GUI will show you which board ID's it has found. Then in t...

Re: Gertbot

The jumpers set the board id. Thus after you set the jumpers you can address the board using that number.

The fact that you saw the board jumping from one ID to another had probanly to do with the fact that you had two boards with the same ID. I never tried or tested that.

Re: Gertbot

Did you set the board ID jumpers?

The use of multiple Gertbots is specified in the advanced manual: https://www.gertbot.com/gbdownload/man/ ... ed_2.4.pdf
The ID jumper settings are discussed and shown in chapter 2.

The simplest solution would be to use VNC which, luckily for you, comes ready-packed with the Raspberry-Pi.

Re: Gertbot

Your question is somewhat confusing. You talk about a timer start & stop but then mention that it "calculates the time interval between this? " which is not what a timer function does. You might have a look at section 7.25.2 of the manual Revision 2.8. There is an signal called 'attention' which can...

Re: Gertbot

No, you can't do half or micro stepping. For that I would have to make major changes to the current software. As the sales of the product has reached its end-phase there is no return in that for me.

The J3 pinout can be found in the GUI manual page 10. https://www.gertbot.com/gbdownload/man/Gertbot_GUI.pdf Alternative is to start the GUI and after connecting press the 'board' button. Example of using the inputs with Python can be found in the python_2.8a.tgz archive in the test program: test_dr...

Re: Gertbot

I am working on an updated manual. There is a delay because I am switching from word to open-office and there are compatibility issues. I have to do a lot of tedious work and I can stand only so many hours a week with elevated blood pressure! The new manual states that you should just set the speed ...

Re: Gertbot

I mentioned the GUI only to get you started and test the HW. You are probably going to need it anyway to find the servo 'trim' values. Being used to accuracies of 1% or even 0.1% I was some what surprised to see that the servo position deviations where in the order of 30% As of a few minutes ago the...

Re: Gertbot

This chip has built-in freewheel diodes which take care of the turn-off voltage spikes. Otherwise it would die at the first use! There is no reason to add any more protection from your side. To switch the current-stop off you send the command once: set_short(board,channel,GB_SHORT_NONE); I have not ...

Re: Gertbot

The problem is that the hardware and CPU are very, very fast. Even a very short current spike may trigger the stop-mode. Command <0x21 <id> 0x00> will prevent that. Thus 0x21 0x00 0x00 for channel 0, 0x21 0x01 0x00 for channel 1 etc. It does NOT disable the short circuit protection. That is always e...

RS have been the only one still buying from me. You should have a look at their stock. Manufacturing is done in batches of 2500. As sales have been declining, it is not economic viable for me to start a new batch. (I sold ~400 last year). I still have a few hundred in stock but I am not set-up to e....
