Re: Using a raspi2 SD card in a raspi1 B model?

Indeed, thanks for all the answers! I just tried it and it works, kinda. My node.js / node-red installation chocked on the arm6 cpu, guess I would need other binaries for those. But the OS booted just fine. Maybe I'll just buy another Raspi2, that would be easier (and faster, node.js / node-red does...

Using a raspi2 SD card in a raspi1 B model?

Can I directly plug an SD card that was used in a raspberry pi 2 and use it in an older model (raspi1 model B)?
I didn't want to try because I wasn't sure if booting up the SD card in an older raspi would screw up something...

Thanks! :)

So it's likely not going to work, that is what you are saying?

Re: 3 USB webcams streaming simultaneously?

I have a baby cam setup using two Logitech C905 webcams at 640x480, 15fps, streaming simultaneously (using mjpg_streamer). It works great, I have currently a 28 day uptime (only due to power outage), no issues. But is it possible to use 3 webcams simultaneously, with an USB hub? I don't want to buy...

Re: 3 USB webcams streaming simultaneously?

When the camera is streaming to two separate concurrent sessions, the CPU is around 20-22%, the total memory used is around 32MB. I have the 512MB board So I guess this should be fine. You are right, the best way would be to try, just trying to see that maybe something is fundamentally not going to ...

Playing mp3 with python - high CPU & mem usage?

Hi, I'm quite new to python programming and raspberry in general, but I have written the following python program to shuffle between mp3 files in the current folder on a button press: import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time import glob import pyxine xine = pyxine.Xine() stream = xine.stream_new() mp3s =...

Re: Limit wifi (USB) bandwidth usage?

Retries on the WiFi perhaps? Interference on the channel? What does iwconfig show? Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out tonight, changing the wifi channels. But what do you exactly mean by "retries on the wifi"? Also, do you know maybe something about possibility of limiting the wifi power and/or ba...

Limit wifi (USB) bandwidth usage?

Hi, I have a raspi setup where I use an USB webcam (Logitech C100) and a mini USB wifi dongle, brand Edup, chipset Ralink 5370. Both of them work fine, even for a prolonged period. I power my raspi from 850ma phone charger and it seems to provide sufficient power. I stream the webcam using mjpg_stre...

What kind of programming / script would be able to achieve?

Hi, I'm building a device that would use a wifi dongle, a webcam and audio output. I would need to program something that would achieve the following goals: 1. stream the webcam using mjpeg-streamer (mjpeg streamer would do it quite well, this program would only need to see if for some reason the st...

RaspBEARry cuddly toy? :) http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=37 Some ideas that came to my mind that would be quite easy to implement: - cuddly bear with a raspberry inside, linked up to the internet via wifi, making it possible to have live contact with the bear - add a webcam that w...

Re: Powering Question

Is it really true that there's a 750ma limit? I'm trying to build a device which should ideally power the following just using a single USB charger (rated 2A): - raspi itself - wifi dongle - USB webcam (no idea yet about the power draw) - small audio amp module from GPIO 5V (like this http://www.eba...

Re: what power do you use?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I'm also thinking about building a device with relatively higher power needs: - USB webcam - USB wifi dongle - audio amp requiring 5V I have looked around on ebay and found the following cheapo USB adapters: Would these work? According to the description, they pro...

Is this something that I could use? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-2-5-5V-2X3W-Mini-Audio-Class-D-amplifier-board-/400378199551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d38667dff For less than $1, it's probably worth to buy it compared to building it on my own... Otherwise, I'll just buy this: http://www.ebay....

Re: Barebones amp for audio out?

Thanks a lot for your reply! Well, I do have a soldering iron and some basic electronics skills: I have created some medium complexity arduino projects in the past, so it's not really a new field, but I'm quite a beginner to be honest. Yes, maybe building one from scratch would also be a good idea, ...

Barebones amp for audio out?

Hi, I'm building a device that would require audio out. Of course, the audio out for the raspi requires some amplification. I have some old walkmans and discmans lying around, so I was wondering whether it would be possible to salvage one of these to get some components for a very basic amplifier? T...

RaspBEARry cuddly toy?

Hi, I have my first kid due quite soon and it got me thinking... How to introduce the world of technology into her life as she grows up... I have some tinkering attitude up my sleeve, I like to do simpler electronics projects, etc... So I had the idea of combing a raspberry pi with an interactive cu...
