google chrome, android, linux

My understanding is the SOIC used in Raspberry PI is the same as is used in may smartphones: Y/N ??? If this is a "Y" and if Android is Linux (all dressed up) then is it reasonable that downloading Google's Chrome browser for Android will run: Y/N ??? I'm going to have a gander at Synaptic to see if...

Re: RootFS on USB Flash Drive

I too am trying to get my root system onto a USB attached drive booting only from the SD attached disc. Changing the root=/whatever directive in the cmdline.txt file works for me until one trys to run X. I have a hunch the command "chroot" and "ldconfig" may be of assistance and a thorough search o...

Re: transfer "/" (root) to USB

NOPE, that didn't work very well. The system boots but XWindows won't login. That is to say theDM works but it won't login.

Been using Linux since 1992.

Never will I go back to windoze except to help other hapless users who are not without the temerity to abandon it.

Re: How do I reformat an sd card that no longer show in win

Aha, you see Windows isn't smart enough to run even on a tiny RaspberryPI. It's too dumb. Windoze is compatible only with itself. Linux has the power ! The power to peruse any filesystem, the power to surf the internet uninfected and the power to excise itself from the myriad sheeple that persist is...

can't find a PDF datafile with hardware spec's pins etc

Where on earth do I locate a proper datasheet explaining all the PI's spec's, numbers and values?

transfer "/" (root) to USB

Following booting to SD I would like to transfer the bulk of the disc system, /home, /usr, /var etc to a suitably voluminous USB disc.

Is there a HOWTO or instruction set somewhere as to how to accomplish this?

Bless you
from Peter
