Re: Question about motion sensor...

You can detect motion thru software as apposed to a connected device . You can then set the threshold and the ideal area of the screen you wish to capture . I believe "motion" is a program you can use for this , possibly more options in software available nowadays . You set the threshold and configu...

Re: need help making a device's on off status an input.

given you already have a setup with temp sensors a simple solution would be to install another temp sensor in the airstream of the fan, and code that polls it for sudden drops (indicating fan is on)

pretty sure you can do it with software alone, one application that springs to mind is "motion" which compare`s shots for changes (value parameters can be changed/set by user)

Re: Control Relay Switches via Android using a Raspberry Pi

you can use it on 2 pi`s mate, just make sure 2nd pi has its own i-p address, you can then control it via this on local network, for controling it over 3g, you will need to configure a seperate port for pi number2, and forward that port to pi2 in your home router , with standard port 80 already forw...

http://volumio.org/ or http://www.squeezeplug.eu/ are 2 of the more popular options, both can be controlled via apps on a smart-phone or tablet, volumio was previously known as raspifi, both can put out some decent audio when paired with a dedicated usb sound output (the onboard audio output on the ...

Re: RaPI and relays?

think your using the wrong command, you can use 1 or high , for turn on,
for turn off use low or 0 (zero),
out and in are for establishing output or input (ie an led or a sensor of some type )
I could be totally wrong as I am no expert but worth a try I suppose :?

could be wrong but I suggest it may be a power issue, if the pi aint booting with the usb dongle attached I would try with a more powerful phone charger

I know its not what your looking for but you can get a double ended usb cable for portable hdd`s, it will connect to 2 x usb ports to give it enough juice to run http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-in-External-Portable-WD-hard-Disk-drive-USB-Dual-charger-Power-Y-data-Cable-/400330489726?pt=UK_Computing_Ca...

is it possible the pi is not getting enough juice to run the both devices, hence wont boot, try it powered via a usb mains hub, or a higher rate cable (some types that come with tablets put out more juice)
good luck mate

We can't tell from this screenshot as we only see the top part of the file. For all I know there could be another line further down in the file which redefines SLOPTIONS to something entirely different. And even then if you want only front and rear I think you should use surround40:CARD=Set,DEV=0 r...
