Re: RPi 4 and USB3 and Gbit ?

I love my RPi´s and changed from a W2k8R2 machine to a RPi3, but I'm missing Gigabit ethernet and USB 3 as I use it as a NAS.... Anybody know if RPi 4 may have these???? Yes, there is gigabit ether and USB3 on board, also SATA is included. But I suggest you to wait for RPI5 with SSD 3.14TB drive. W...

Re: RPi3 jessie - NPTD does not work

I have 2 PI's in the same network: 1. RPI-1B Raspbian GNU/Linux 7 (wheezy) connected via Ethernet 2. RPI-3 Raspbian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) connected via WiFi The first one keeps time w/o problem. The second is out of the sync (few minutes). NTPD configuration seems to be ok: /etc/init.d/ntp status ● n...

Re: The I2S sound thread.

AFAIK there is no route for RPi master clock input , so there is no way to connect mater clock even with soldering iron help. But on the other hand there seems to be many misunderstanding about master clock meaning. Here's some explanation (in comments) from DAC developer about RPi I2S interface htt...

Re: The I2S sound thread.

There is no master clock input for RPi I2S interface. As far as I know, the lack of a dedicated input for a Masterclock should not be a problem if one knows how to do it. Re: Can anyone tell me how to boot pi 3 from a usb drive

Just thinking out loud - Has anyone actually confirmed USB and PXE booting it will be entirely cardless booting ? I know that's been the speculation and the normal semantics would suggest that but it may not necessarily be so. I didn't find any confirmation by end users yet, but I believe what stat...

Boot over on-board wifi - it would be surprising... but with HAT EEPROM (to store ssid/passkey) seems to be possible ;-)

Re: Can anyone tell me how to boot pi 3 from a usb drive

On the other hand this from jdb seems to indicate it is possible. It's possible but not yet with the current firmware and kernel. So, for cardless booting from the USB/ PXE we have to wait for new firmware and kernel... on the sdcard? I don't get it. :?: If there is PXE code in the RPi ROM, then sh...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Q&A thread

I would expect it to be about 50% better simply through raw CPU performance. I'm not sure how much faster NEON is on the A53 though, that might give even more performance. In addition to the 50% CPU performance, the NEON is twice as wide, so performance may be up to 3 times as high. As an example w...
