Re: XBMC + Desktop, Spotify & Internet Browser

You cant run a browser from xbmc (on Rpi), you need to launch the x session. Hence the tutorial on lanching lxde... From there you can launch your browser. .. Hi, i'm trying to run iceweasel with the latest version of Xbian, now i have x server runnig and iceweasel also running on it, my problem is ...

That'll teach me I'll try and convert it to sh at some point and see if they guys there will add to Alpha 5 I am the per...

Re: XBMC + Desktop, Spotify & Internet Browser

Hi all Right I am back, got a new SDCard and installed Alpha 4... I haven't done much yet... I've installed lxde, not got to despotify (but I know this wont work) or chromium... I don't actually need the desktop anymore, I've worked out a better way to get spotify on without leaving xbmc (+sounds be...

Re: XBMC + Desktop, Spotify & Internet Browser

Hi All Sorry not been around much, I'll try and cover off all the questions: X-server not working - seems to have been fixed. I haven't moved to Alpha 4 yet, waiting on a new faster SDCard to arrive and will be doing so then. Looks like a change to the hideoutput.sh is needed Media server - I use a ...

Re: XBMC + Desktop, Spotify & Internet Browser

Hi I've had a quick look at this, seems to be in progress and not sure it will work on the PI, as launching something from within XBMC is a lot for it to do. Although I have seen others have written a script to pause xbmc while running emulators. Its not something I am looking to do so wont spend lo...

Hi Yeah I'd heard/read that Quartz was supposed to be zippy but I didn't see that at all, I like confluence and seems to run best.. Re: How to install XBMC on Wheezy Raspbian

Hey

Why do you need it on Raspbian? I assume for desktop, browsing etc.. I had issues with the post you mentioned too..

See my post for step by step to get a desktop & browser and xbmc:

Hi bazpaul I just have the standard overclock 840.. I'd previously had 'medium' which is 900 + overvolt of 2 but had some issues.. but that was caused from the same issues you faced, poor power cable... I haven't tried any other since as the little lady uses it and doesn't mind a little lag as long ...

Re: XBMC + Desktop, Spotify & Internet Browser

Hi nvid I think you are looking at this in the wrong way. If you want midori to start, you want that within your x-session... not called as a separate thing.. So try adding to autostart: nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart and add the line at the end @midori I haven't got midori but whatever the ...

Check your memory split... not sure if it will have been updated with the way you've done this... hence recommending xbian as it sets up xbmc and you can install what you need from there..

Sounds like not enough memory for gpu

XBian has a light version of Raspbian in the background which you can add too..

Here is what I did:

So you could do that and add what you need?
