Re: Trouble installing RISCOS on Pi3

Assuming you've got to the stage of successfully burning the RC 14 SD image to an SD card, The SD card contains a small boot partition in FAT format that is accessible on a PC. The partition should show up as 'PiBoot'. Once opened you should see a directory containing the following, BOOTCODE.BIN FIX...

Re: Trouble installing RISCOS on Pi3

You need to upgrade to the latest Beta RPi rom as well as the latest firmware. You can download it from https://www.riscosopen.org/content/down ... spberry-pi.

To run at full speed add the following to config.txt

avoid_warnings=2
force_turbo=1
arm_freq=1200
core_freq=450
sdram_freq=450

Re: Porting Apps to RISC OS

ALSO: In order to get the best build performance you will want to set up a tool caching system and have the development chain in a RAM disk (I use an Obey in $.!Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks to configure the RAM Disk and copy the develoment tools, and update the needed system variables/aliases). I do all...

Re: Porting Apps to RISC OS

Although the autobuilder isn't perfect it's much less time consuming to set up a fully automated build environment. Once it's set up it's simple to test building an application. Building the RISC OS rom is the only thing I build on RISC OS using the DDE. It takes under 7 minutes to build here. Build...

Re: Porting Apps to RISC OS

It's out of necessity more than anything. Running RISC OS on even the fastest RISC OS hardware is pitifully slow and under resourced compared to a modern PC. Unless you're dealing with very simple and small projects it would be very difficult to port software from other platforms. The tools just are...

Re: Porting Apps to RISC OS

I just gave RISC OS a spin and I'm quite surprised on how well it runs on the Pi. My question though is how does one port apps to RISC OS? I know you can set up Cross-compiling to Raspbian, Is there a similar set up to Compile to RISC OS and is the following the preferred method? http://www.riscos....

Re: NutPi version of DDE

The first problem you're having is due to a typo in the !SetPaths !Run file. In SDFS::RISCOSpi.$.AcornC/C++.!SetPaths.!Run Change, Set RISCOSLLB$Path <RISC_OSLib$Path> to Set RISCOSLIB$Path <RISC_OSLib$Path> I also ran pi_css5 on RISC OS using gcc 4.7.3 with vfp support. It uses float-abi=softfp. Ca...

Re: NutPi version of DDE

It looks like you've installed CoreUtils. It clashes with some of the commands in the DDE. Try uninstalling CoreUtils with PackMan.

Re: Mame - Incomplete .zip installation via !PackMan

Hi Grannyg, The mrdo rom is the start of the problem on the RISCOS repository version. It's not there, so can't be run. The roms directory is empty, the same as the cfg directory being empty. I know it works using the Raspian image, it's the RISCOS repository version that's broken. Check and verify...

Re: Mame - Incomplete .zip installation via !PackMan

Not a RISCOS Pi problem, it's a RISCOS problem, so I guess I should contact them.... It runs fine on the raspberry pi all be it very slowly. Even early 80s games struggle a bit. If you still want to try it. Inside the mame folder is an obey file 'runmame'. This runs the rom 'mrdo' by default. The r...

Re: Boot file lost after setting up Internet

Hi Unhban Thanks for the suggestion, but not relevant in this case - I went through all that with Linux and carefully tuned a 2A supply fed through the adjustable regulator in an old USB hub with an additional USB connector I added to power the Pi. Tony There's one more thing you could try. In the ...

Hi guys. My Internet is working fine with !Packman and !Netsurf. Re: New to RISC OS? Read this!

Also, how would you overclock the Raspberry Pi using RISC? It would be pretty cool if I could run the core at 1000MHz with some powerful RAM speed as well. You can overclock the Raspberry on RISC OS by changing the config.txt file. To access it hold down shift and double click on the !Boot folder. ...

Re: RISCOS on a 4Gb SD card

Quick question for the experienced RISCOSsers here. The official RISCOS download seems to be designed for a 2GB SD card, but I didn't have a spare one when I downloaded it, so I copied it to a 4GB card. Is there a way to use the extra 2GB? There is a way but it's a bit of an involved process. Here'...

If you hold down shift and click on the !Lander folder. Then double click Slowvid. This should slow it down enough to be playable.

There is a version of !Lander that works on the raspberry pi or you can run the real thing !Zarch under !ArcEm. You can get iLander from http://www.cgransden.co.uk/lander.zip or !ArcEm from http://sourceforge.net/projects/arcem/f ... .50-alpha/
