Re: OMXPlayer errors in Stretch Lite on Pi Zero 11-2018 - will not show video

Thank you both for your replies. It is good to know that my results can be duplicated. Is dist-upgrade necessary? It is my opinion that this is a command that should be executed on any 'new - out of the box' Raspberry Pi. Some may call this a 'bleeding edge upgrade', but again in my opinion, It is u...

Re: OMXPlayer errors in Stretch Lite on Pi Zero 11-2018 - will not show video

UPDATE... I have found that when I install Stretch Lite, and first perform sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, before finally installing omxplayer then omxplayer fails to play any video and I receive the error shown above in the original post. When I install Stretch Lite, and next ins...

OMXPlayer errors in Stretch Lite on Pi Zero 11-2018 - will not show video

Hello to All, I have a new Pi Zero W and I have loaded the latest Stretch Lite and attached an RPi Camera v2.1. I have performed sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get upgrade and also set memory split to 256. I then issued the command raspivid -t 1000 -o testvid.h264 to capture a 10 second video...

Re: Trying to get 128x128 TFT display working. Am I close? (Pi3)

I recently ran across my 1.8" SPI - TFT that I purchased from Texy back he first sold these units. I was able to get mine working at that time, but I have lost my early Raspberry Pi images that contained my very first Raspberry Pi projects. I had the TFT display running on Wheezy. I am now trying to...

Re: Raspbian Stretch - Bluetooth Speakers

I am having the same type of problem. Braven Bluetooth speaker pairs, but will not connect. I get into the same loop as GeyikBaba, "Connection failed - Use the audio menu to connect to this device".

looking forward to getting this to work properly, but I do not know what to try next.

Re: New Display - Cursor Jumps and Clicks all over the place

There is no need to call an Exorcist! :) I was experiencing this same problem when powering my unit from my PC USB Port... not good. The demons and evil spirits would bounce the cursor all around, opening apps and closing the ones I had open! I moved my power cable to a powered USB Hub that is rated...

Re: Timezone

I concur with torgeirhansen, his method will correctly set your Time Zone, not just your Local Time. In either case, the Raspberry Pi does not have a real-time clock so the local time and/or time zone must be set upon each power up.

Enjoy...

Re: Timezone

OK, here is the real answer...

Connect to your RPi using PowerShell then enter the following command:

Set-Date 19:01 - This command will set your Raspberry Pi to 7:01 PM - Use your own local time.. or wait for 7:01pm to roll around in your local area :P

hope you enjoy

Re: Timezone

Use PowerShell to send commands after you establish connection thru PowerShell. There are tutorials available at: https://dev.windows.com/en-us/iot?logged_in=1

Hope this helps

Re: problem cups , thermal print

I too am working on printing from an RPi2B to an Epson TM-T88 using a USB-to-Serial interface. I have installed tmx-cups_2.0.1.2 and included the configuration files found at https://github.com/plinth666/epsonsimplecups . Initially I did get errors in CUPS indicating files did not exist or could not...

Re: Problem with mounting a 2TB SATA drive as a NAS

If the drive is shared from your Raspberry Pi using Samba/CIFS and Windows uses the CIFS share, then Windows does not know nor care what format the filesystem is on the drive. Samba/CIFS does all the magic needed to make an ext4 drive readable/writeable by your Windows CIFS clients. Samba/CIFS also...

Re: Problem with mounting a 2TB SATA drive as a NAS

Why don't you format it as ext4 and as said above, Samba will interpret it correctly for the Windows systems. Hello kusti8, It is my understanding that Windows cannot properly write to the ext4 drive natively without third party applications. I need to write to the 2TB using native Windows path and...

Re: Problem with mounting a 2TB SATA drive as a NAS

I will agree with you, RobHenry. I am doubling my study of file systems and cross-platform functionality between Linux & Windows. It is important that I have ability to write to the NAS in a native Windows format. Even if there is a slight performance hit. What I find puzzling is that following the ...

I tried each of the two mount commands listed above and received the error: ntfe-3g: Failed to access volume 'dev'sda1' : No such file or directory It should be /dev/sda1 With the HDD plugged in, what is the result of: sudo fdisk -l ? For RobHenry, fdisk -l produces the following for the 2TB drive ...

Re: Problem with mounting a 2TB SATA drive as a NAS

Unless you have a need to physically remove the drive from the RPi (NAS) and connect it to a Windows computer from time to time, then there is no need to have NTFS formatting. Samba will make a Linux formatted (ext4) drive appear as a Windows compatible filesystem to Windows computers and as ext4 t...

As I research this issue, it seems to me at this point that the solution resides in properly configuring the HDD in order to use it with the Linux/Raspbian operating system. I am hoping someone with a bit of knowledge could point me in the right direction. I am beginning to think that either I have ...
