Re: Night-Vision animal monitor with blob detection?

Why not make a timelapse then your pictures say 1 every minute in Uk uses 25 picture to make 1 second of video. If you take picture every 10 seconds for 10 hours (32Gb no problem) gives 3600 pictures making 144 second of video or USA 120 seconds . 1 picture every second is only 20 minutes. Pretty su...

Re: Latest Version - has anyone managed to implement actions

We've just finished working on a book for the new AIY Projects kit that explains the new API and using actions. It will be available shortly (free download or print/digital purchase). Personally, I find the new API much better for implementing actions. But it is vastly different. There's an API ref...

Re: Latest Version - has anyone managed to implement actions

Perhaps it will be wise to let the dust settle on the new version as I have so many actions
calling bash scripts if it is going to be so different let others take the strain so to speak. :)

Re: Essentials_Camera_Book Chapter 10

A friend has given me the answer for the wrong ram size. You just need to remove a 100 from the line below df_pc = round(100 -(100 * df_avail/df_size),1) becomes df_pc = round((100 * df_avail/df_size),1) Post this on magpi github as well Still looking for a good clean way to close the camera down Te...

Re: Adding buttons to GPIO's on VoiceHAT

If you look at the first link I posted yes GPIO4 is on the header pin 1 but it is pulled low all the time with a 10K resistor Perhaps what may work is using a resistor via switch pulled to 3.3v NOT the 5V that will destroy the PI. Using your software to look for a high as a active state when the swi...

Re: Adding buttons to GPIO's on VoiceHAT

You are trying to use the board for what it is not designed to do. The pins on left are for motors and the right ones are for led relays etc. This link show the spare GPIO pins but you will have to solder on to the pins of the header https://aiyprojects.withgoogle.com/voice/#makers-guide-4-1--connec...

Re: Adding buttons to GPIO's on VoiceHAT

The 4 pins have circuity mosfet and a diode on them
take a look here bottom of page shows the circuit for each one and they have been
called "driver" to control relays etc.

With vlc it is so simple to play a directory full of music files mp3 wav flac etc called from the action. I store files in the /home/pi/Music directory If you do vlc -H you will see help showing albums playlists etc. I just use a simple command for a headerless console so use cvlv as pi users. Fitte...

Re: Stereo mod

You should try some 4ohm 5W speakers I am using a pair from an old Panasonic
Amp system they sound great gives it a bit of base as well.
Your 8ohm .3w is way under power rating. Speaker that comes with AIY is 4ohm 5W

I am still learning all this at 75 years. :)
It is all in the MagPi # 57 and 58
read the file" action.py" in the /home/pi/voice-recognizer-raspi/src directory that is what you edit.

Re: Schematics - 5V relay

You will be safer to make the X3-1 to 3.3v as x3-2 will be a GPIO also 3.3v
So 5v from GPIO 2 GND from 6 and pull up resistor to pin 1 and X3-2 to GPIO of your choice to program
