Re: How do i perform live backup of Raspi SD card?

EDIT to the above post: Now i added my un-powered hub with a mouse, USB pendrive and keyboard attached. Booted just fine.I Misbehaved/roughed up/dirty shutdown the RasPi a few more times at the first terminal and loading desktop. Still worked fine. No lost files, no corrupt SD partitions. The unpowe...

Re: PANIC: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179

I am here to update the thread on the issue i had just posted. After what was happening over and over again with my element14 (preloaded) purchased SD Card, i decided to try a 4GB Micro SD i had lying around collecting dust. First i formatted it with SD Formatter properly, as the SD and SDHC cards a...

Re: How do i perform live backup of Raspi SD card?

@Vindicator, It happened again. I am hating every minute of it. Okk, i do not overclock it in forced mode, but in the turbo_mode preset in the raspi_config menu. It almost always happens at unclean shutdowns. I get Panic : VFS unable to mount root fs at (179,2) pid 1) due to keyboard entry >kdb (rou...

Re: PANIC: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179

Guys, ok, i have been shutting down my pi using sudo halt, or rebooting via Sudo Reboot. My story goes like this, i have been having problems with this bug for the last 24 hours or so. How do i perform live backup of Raspi SD card?

Hey guys... in the last 24 hours i have had to rewrite the Raspi Image onto the SD card 5-6 times. Everytime, with the system updated and upgraded, i managed to do something or the other that would give me a kernel panic at boot. I am sick of getting the SD Card out of my self made Raspi Casing, whi...

Re: Why not a DIY Power Supply?

@mahjongg my prime concern is running the setup all day long might heat it up a little bit. With ambient temperatures high around here, and the Overclock limit set on the Raspi, i would like to keep it cool incase something makes it reach the 85 degrees Celsius where it will be underclocked again be...

Re: Why not a DIY Power Supply?

And how about putting a fan on the Diode bridge? Would that cause any kind of noise for the pi? Please note the fan would be placed on the output of the diode bridge.

Re: Why not a DIY Power Supply?

@mahjongg...youre right. It would be better with a variable voltage regulator like the LM2596. But now i am thinking of having the RasPi and its power supply with a fan in the same casing. The fan i want to run at full RPM always. So can i power the fan from after the diode bridge before the Regulat...

Why not a DIY Power Supply?

Hey guys.... I have been looking around on the internet, reading how most of the problems a Raspi user encounters, are caused by power supplies....i too am having trouble getting a legitimate Power Adapter for the Pi. At the same time, i am tempted to think, why hasn't anybody come up with a DIY Pow...
