Re: LinuxCNC

I don't know why I post this on youtube as it does not really help or inform anyone and a simple easy machinkit dist is still a long way off, but I finally got around to messing with a circuit board this weekend so made a video of results. https://youtu.be/Rffu7XeFVHU I don't think any question woul...

Wow, why do all the good posts get censored? Interesting question. I was playing with stuff last night and come on the forum for other reasons and spotted this mystery shopper comment/complaint, and it spured a complex cascade of rivulets in my flow of consciousness. I am always wondering the cost o...

Re: raspbian dpkg problems on new 20160513 jessie-lite

I just thought I would round off the issue with another link on github. https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1416 Seems a number of kingston SDHC cards have problems with the 'erase' command, the patch is not applied to the kernel available through 'rpi-update' so grab the images linked on th...

kinstonsd2_e.jpg kinst3.jpg kinstonsd1_4.jpg I post here photos of the cards, I bought all at same time from amazon.co.uk, 4 16Gb cards and 1 32Gb about three weeks ago, I have not opened the 32gb and 2 other 16gb cards. Seems very strange that cards from same batch should be different (code number...

I just looking at plugging it into a cm adaptor but it seem to not work for me, maybe I made stupid mistake, or....? tried with -cs 1 so its not different csi interface. Re: raspbian dpkg problems on new 20160513 jessie-lite

Okay I have tried and double checked on a few different rpi (3/B+/zero) and same errors occur, I think the patch does not fix the errors only reduces them. The card details as shown on the card as as below: Kingston ® soc1-g2/16gb no579-003 a00lf taiwan FⒸo The output from udevadm is as follows: Ude...

Odd that only a picture of one side of the board. Would want need to see the other side really to see if it different to Zero1. Look at the left side of the Board. I think I figured out what's new. Leaves an important Question: Where to get it. Up to the Point where I think my Guess is totally wron...

Re: raspbian dpkg problems on new 20160513 jessie-lite

How can I check what the latest raspbian repo kernel version is and check it against the git kernel update to see if patch is applied? It's possible to check that, but it's not relevant here ATM The Jessie (Lite) has kernel 4.4.9 #884 (from 6/5/16) installed. That's from before the bugfix I mention...

Re: raspbian dpkg problems on new 20160513 jessie-lite

I tested the SD card with h2testw.exe and no errors shown, its a brand new kingston 16Gb class 10 'IU1' sdhc. There have been several reports from users having similar problems with some Kingston cards. @PhilE mentioned he was researching this and there seems to be a bugfix in the latest kernel / f...

raspbian dpkg problems on new 20160513 jessie-lite

I posted about problems in the '13th May 2016 Changes to the Raspbian Jessie Desktop' thread, but I suppose the jessie-lite image is not really the desktop as X is not part of the image. So I start new thread..... I assume this shows there is problems in the repo dependencies? I try to add X as show...

Re: A picture from The Pi Hut

Someone told me the board looks identical to previous zero.

So I am guessing they used the new A32 core in the soc instead of the ARM1176JZF-S

Its just a rumor and my guess, probably wrong though, I prefer to dream that its a csi interface or at least solder pads for a diy ffc solder attempt :)

I have serious problems on using the new jessie-lite image, lots of stuff seems broken and my system has been destroyed twice in two attempts to run a custom 'apt-get install' of about 190Mb of packages, and compile script for some unavailabe packages that I will post below. #!/bin/sh sudo apt-get u...

Hey Mung.... did you know Riello is the MOD EDIT. They manufacture oil burners and use the motors back EMF for their low voltage needs. Hmmm.... Torque = Force x Distance? I realize there's like a zillion motor controllers for Pi's out there. I ordered three of these because they can handle 5 amps per stepper motor. Now... they have Arduino motor controllers that can handle upwards of 50 amps. I haven't been able to find anything of that capability on the Pi yet... t...

mung, I think my position is that the rpi is a load of crap, but it is the best thing that is currently available of its type. Love it. The IBM PC was a serious pile of crap in 1980 whatever. None of us young guys at the time could understand how they could make such a stupid thing. Turns out that ...

I'm not sure what you are saying. Is the axis scheduling performed on the Pi and are Pi GPIO being used to send pulse/dir to the stepper motor drivers? Axis scheduling??? not sure what that is? I think I said I am not an expert in motion control, I assume you know more than me, especially about the...

Re: Samsung's Artik 10 marketing failure?

It looks nice but too expensive, also I think I would not drop my experience/knowledge of raspberry pi to start learning a whole new system. I imagine rpi competitors have to offer a lot more, better or cheaper, for most developers/makers/hobbiests to switch platform from the defacto standard. I am ...

Re: Anyone good at driving stepper motors

Yes, I thought seriously. How do the CNC people run multi-axis machines, say 3 or 4 steppers from the Pi? How do they schedule the steps? I am not really sure how multi axis machines are run(I have never used any pro level equipment), but it seems if the gpio switch time is only a few ns different ...
