Re: Motion - MMAL camera

Just in case anyone else runs into this problem- was having a tough time getting any images out of my 'motion' system that had been working before. Then I realized that my image dimensions were not an integer multiple of 16. Apparently that is needed by something in the image chain. Going back to 3...

Thanks
the mirror image was fixed with a firmware update. do a 'rpi-update' to get the latest firmware.

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

Jan You're post implies you've logged in as root rather than using sudo. I assume you've modifed your basic install to permit this or you're using a different OS. If its the latter then you're missing some libraries. I suggest, a vanilla image of Raspian and retrying, the process posted previously w...

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

Time for a code update! First pass assembler optimisations to the image processing "hotspots". Currently only a very small gain in speed, and only if you're not using a mask image or the smart mask option. Option to use the Pi camera's stills mode rather than video. This can give you a wider field ...

100% solar power has been achieved by a number of people. There are several issues you need to understand / resolve. Primarily, you need to do the power conversion calculations before you start. To add peripherals like keyboards and a mouse you'll need more power. Here, google is you're friend. This...

Re: Motion - MMAL camera

generation of avi's is part of the motion config. admittedly I switched this off in the default file before I started poor quality video will probably be because you're overtaxing the RPI asking for both. disable in the conf and retest. I recommend running 'top' in another terminal to monitor perfor...

Re: M12 lens adapter for camera module

After modifcation of the lens module I only lightly placed the sensor on camera board, so this is probably the problem.
Its not a major issue ATM, currently I'm failing to get the OCR working to recognise numberplates. (see attached example). but that a topic for elsewhere.

Great diagram btw.

you are correct, depth of field is pushed out substantially. Re: M12 lens adapter for camera module

Following the earlier advise in this thread, the wiki article has been updated to include the much simpler mod that retains the original near IR blocking filter. This results in the following http://wiki.raspberrytorte.com/images/thumb/4/47/RPiCamWithLensRemovedPlusNewHousing.png/200px-RPiCamWithLen...

have you posted any other example images anywhere? . I'm pleased with the results so far. http://wiki.raspberrytorte.com/index.php?title=Camera_Module_Lens_Modifcation Nicely improvised, but why risk the destructive disassembly of the housing? All you need is to unscrew the lens. The M12 receptacle fits over the stock lens receptable. And this retains the IR filter, which you need. I to...

Re: Faulty Camera Module - Blurry

Your lens could be slightly out of focus. Assuming the following for the lens (total guess work I might add), focal length = 5mm, aperture = 2mm This would give anything beyond 250mm should be in focus. That doesn't help you refocus though, its kinda fiddly. All efforts with mine indicate they are b...

my installation on a vanilla '2012-07-15-wheezy-raspbian' worked perfectly until the script updated the software and firmware. After the reboot the Wifi failed to connect. presumably this was caused by the kernel driver over writing the Engman's efforts. I attempted to re-run the script to replace t...
