Re: Colocation between users (the cheap way)

Hi thagrol, How can I convice you that I am trustworthy and that I won't use all your avaiable bandwidth? Guess I don't. You will have to know me and trust my words. Trust is the basis of human relationships and time will tell. if confidence is broken, the relationship ends. When talking about band...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

It would have been nice to have some kind of emmc memory option. Either onboard and an expansion module. I guess that would have been icing on the cake! EMMC really isn't a very good option IMO. Less reliable than SD cards over multiple writes and you cannot replace it when it fails, like you can w...

Re: Colocation between users (the cheap way)

The two big problesm here are trust and bandwidth. Put simply, how can you convice me that you are trustworthy and that you won't use all my avaiable bandwidth? Large hosting companies have the legal expertise, the technical expertise, and the bandwidth to handle this. I (and most home users) don't...

Re: Colocation between users (the cheap way)

About the legal issues, as soon as I am aware (myself or via a third party) that some illicit activity is taking place, I would need to intervene and stop it. Then talking to the owner for its review and solution would suffice. Unfortunately, the way you might become aware of illicit activity is fo...

Re: Colocation between users (the cheap way)

Cheers! What you describe is technically possible and attractive due to the low power requirements of the Pi. However, the idea is also fraught with peril. For example, avoiding financial transactions may keep you within the contract for home internet service, but that same contract may also make y...

Re: Colocation between users (the cheap way)

Wouldn't it be easier and safer to come up with some mechanism whereby a remote user with a Pi could be instructed to do whatever you need to measure and then send you the results ? That could be done with the remote user not having to open their Pi to incoming traffic from the internet, not having...

Colocation between users (the cheap way)

Hi there, I was wondering if there would be someone interested in interchanging Raspberry Pi's in order to host it (colocation) on somenone else's home. Just to put an example, sometimes I like to perform network checks (ping for latency, mtr for Internet routes...) from another location different f...

Re: Backup MX exchange

I am sorry but I don't get your point. I already know what MX, DNS/DNS records and backup MX are. Maybe it is my fault because I did not make myself clear (english is not my mother tongue, sorry for that). So let me try to explain again my proposal. I run my personal MTA on the Raspberry Pi (yes, I ...

Backup MX exchange

Hi there, I am running my own server with the Raspberry Pi and would like to find someone to do a backup MX exchange. What does "backup MX" means? It means you have a primary mail server (the one it receives mail for a given domain and delivers it to final recipients) and if for any reason it goes d...

Re: raspberry pi y sin internet

Pueden ser muchas cosas, pero se me ocurre que podría tratarse de:

- Un problema de alimentación. ¿Has probado con otra fuente?
- Un problema de overclocking/overvolting. ¿Has subido frecuencias/voltajes?

Salut.

Re: Distributed webservers with "some kind of HA"

Well, MySQL replication is a sysadmin's worst nightmare. Master-Master configurations work fine when you're doing load balancing instead of HA. If for some reason MySQL servers go out of sync (i.e. the connection between them breaks down), you'll be in trouble. For example, if you have an auto-incr...

Re: Distributed webservers with "some kind of HA"

The pro way of doing this would be using Anycast DNS. That is a mixture of DNS and routing. You have the same IP address on more than one server in different locations, the routing protocols running on the server itself select the server that will serve a request. But that requires access to router...

Distributed webservers with "some kind of HA"

Hi there, I have a dream. Or at least, an idea ;) I am trying to set up some kind of HA (High Availability) system on a LWMP (Linux + Webserver + MySQL + PHP) stack running on top of N Raspberry Pi (RPi from now on). I say "some kind of HA" because I plan to do this vía DNS + multiple A registers, a...

Re: Pi Record Web Cam to USB

Even if I haven't got the webcam you mention, I found a way to get it working with motion. Take a look at these 2 posts on the forum: 2 Webcams with motion - http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=28331&p=276992#p276992 Workaround for problems with motion - http://www.raspberrypi.org...

Creative Live! Cam Sync + motion en la Raspberry Pi

Oh, and just for the record the webcam works perfectly with motion + same configuration on any other non-Raspberry Pi hardware. It is a little bit dissapointing since I cannot do anything to solve it because it is a hardware issue.

Cheers.

Re: [AYUDA]Automatizar Descargas FTP remoto
