Re: Kernel source tree

If you just want the headers and appropriate files to build out-of-tree modules for the version of the kernel in the raspberrypi-kernel package, then you can install raspberrypi-kernel-headers.

but then isnt it better to have the list of options there? Yeah, that's not how it's meant to look. I suppose running pipanel or some other tools as root previously may have messed up permissions, or maybe they were messed before. You can use this to find files owned by root. Look over that list of...

Re: "sudo apt-get upgrade"

One odd thing is that the file manager is running as root in your case. Did you run 'sudo pipanel' ? There's no reason to run it as root, it's just 'pipanel'

Do you have sufficient free space on the card?

Code: Select all

Re: Reliability Data

A bit of a duplicate post.

I don't think a forum is a valid source of information for a masters thesis and there's no authoritative information to answer your questions.

You'd need to grab a flir camera, mechanical drawings, a pi and start counting.

Re: "sudo apt-get upgrade"

I expected to see something going horribly wrong during the upgrade, but it looks okay.

Can you try running pipanel, going to the 'Defaults' tab and clicking 'Set Defaults' next to 'For medium screens:'?

Also, op's error message is about a file being corrupted, not about it missing.

It looks like some files got corrupted while you were updating. I don't see anything wrong with libcupsfilters1 or qpdfview.

/etc/rpi-issue will tell you what kind of image it was. The partition table would tell you whether it's a noobs install.

Re: Prevent SD-Card Corruption

It's not quite that easy, since it's all set up for debian's kernel package. It will require either a long overdue overhaul of our kernel package or a fork of initramfs-tools. Possibly both since, If I recall correctly, initramfs-tools likes symlinks and our boot partition doesn't. It's all on the t...

Looks okay from here.

The sense-emu-tools installs and runs fine too.

Re: ffmpeg crashed video

Unless the program explicitly flushes the data to disk regularly, linux will cache it for a certain amount of time or until it uses a certain percentage of memory. The only solution I can recommend is to cleanly exit ffmpeg and do a clean shutdown. If I was to give a solution I wouldn't recommend, t...

Re: script problem (again) - scratching my head...

Hope this doesn't derail the thread, but I'd just like to suggest 'shellcheck', which is a brilliant tool that finds most of the mistakes people make in shell scripts, including portability issues.
