Re: Foundation Camera Board information

Looks great. I'm looking at putting a Model A and camera module together for a portable webcam (with or without a USB microphone), any ideas on what current the camera draws? I expect it would fluctuate with the various settings, but are there maximum and minimum values?

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

Thanks @Rious. I wrote a python class to deal with it that is fairly similar to what you have posted, but I did figure there wasn't much point in posting it (I can post it but I'm on a tablet right now and don't have the file). Also, I would like to thank you for standing up for me in regards to the...

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

By just writing the 16 bit address as either two bytes or using 'w' mode to send a 16 bit value. NO other data bytes. Then do an i2cget of one or more bytes. With man pages for i2cdump, i2cget and i2cset I fail to understand your problem. Especially as you have read the datasheet and man pages The ...

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

I have actually read the manual pages on i2cset and i2cget, and I have googled for this exact topic (16-bit memory addressing), and run help(__import__('smbus').SMBus) several times. I know I can set the data byte by sending a two data bytes and a byte address (the first data byte being the second o...

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

First of all down load the data sheet:- http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/devicedoc/21754g.pdf Then look at Figure 8-2 for the read sequence. You will see you need to write the address followed by the two bytes of the data. Then do a read and you will get the results of the byte. Umm... I've re...

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

Exactly the same as writing, send it a two byte address and then read the byte at that address. Sorry, I have no idea on how to do that. I am trying to interface using Python, SMBus isn't helping, and i2ctools isn't much better. I know a little C++ and/or am willing to try Quickwire's I2C solution ...

Re: I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

You need to split the internal memory address into two bytes, so you need to send two bytes with i2cset after sending the device address, whatever the option is for multiple byte transfer. See documentation for i2cset. But what about retrieving data from the EEPROM? This is actually the main compon...

I2C 16-bit memory addressing?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to interface with a 24FC512 EEPROM. It uses a 16-bit memory address. I have a Picaxe which can interface fine, and i2cdetect can see it (0x50), ruling out the chip as the cause of the issue. However, any read or write operation I attempt from the Pi fails. In addition to this...
