Re: 4 Rpi's

What’s a Raspberry Pi? The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to s...

Re: 4 Rpi's

I don't think The Foundation are doing anything wrong. They've created the most exciting piece of computer hardware I've seen in thirty years. They've created a support organisation and this user community. They've created a regularly published users magazine. Google for "Raspberry Pi" and you get ...

Re: 4 Rpi's

I'm not sure that's anything the Foundation can do anything about though - if someone simply isn't interested, they simple are not interested. There will always be a large percentage of the population who simply have no interest whatsoever - the difficult bit is getting the remainder going. The soc...

Re: 4 Rpi's

This whole thread has "concern troll" written all over it. No troll here my friend. I have been around long before the Rpi was ever sold. Sorry I am just telling you that things could be better and I am expressing my opinion. Maybe I am trying to make things a little better for the Rpi. Oh and just...

Re: 4 Rpi's

Here they allow them to bring them home. If not the Ipad - a notebook. They do homework on them. Parents have to pay insurance on them. Besides that you can get a notebook here for $150, and a desktop basically anywhere for a few dollars, not new. Anyway, yes you can buy a Rpi with the OS on the SD ...

Re: 4 Rpi's

Like I didn't need to learn how to program my first computer? The problem is that I went through it over and over it for years, not going to do any longer. A lot of wasted time only to have to start all over again. I bet he wouldn't do it again either. I have the sense now to have patience and wait ...

Re: 4 Rpi's

Signs The Raspberry Pi is obviously not the machine for you. You are not interested and you do not have the time to bother with it. Why complain about it? Why not just buy whatever else it is you want? I am not complaining about it, I just think that it could be a whole lot more with just a little ...

123pame I am wondering if you are someone else could do this for me? I would be willing to pay for it by Paypal. My situation may be a little different, than just recording. What I would like to do is not only record but have the stream playing at the same time. I have purchased a FM radio transmitt...

Yes, it was still choppy. Made no difference. Have had great improvement with playing with the Html for the Javascript, however.

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Nice proof of concept there! I'm sure some users would be looking for more sophistication but the digital signs I see most often are more static displays (i.e. menus, specials of the day, local events, etc.) The key advantage of digital signs is the ease with which changes can be made, so my sugges...

Re: Getting The Ur-quan Masters (Star Control 2) Working

Okay so after a *lot* of experimenting talking to the developers of UQM etc, etc, I finally worked out how to get this timeless classic working on the Pi and it is *really* easy. As a note of warning: 1.  This has no education value what-so-ever.  It is just a classic game I love and I am sharing m...

Re: Screenly OSE -- Digital Signage for the Raspberry Pi

Thanks for the info. Personally I don't think the Raspberry Pi makes a very good web kiosk at the moment. It is far too slow when it comes to running JavaScript to prove a good user experience. At this time I cannot see the Raspberry Pi much good for anything. Especially for providing professional ...

I have been looking over post for digital signage using the Raspberry Pi. I have even offered a bounty to someone that can build one. The best one that I have found is located at: http://www.binaryemotions.com/instant-webkiosk-for-raspberry-pi/ It still needs some work, so I am hoping that you may w...

Re: Special Rpi Operating System (Simple)

To prevent someone from changing the SD card, the Pi needs to be physically secure. So you do not need to worry about anyone attaching a keyboard. Yes this is true, but what about hacking the wifi? If even they get to the network, I don't want a way for them to gain access the OS. I thought about l...

Re: 3 Screen Display Extention

Hello, in my opinion the Rpi is the perfect computer for Digital Displays. The only problem I see is that their will be so many that we will not be able to escape them. I am (and have been) sitting and waiting and working on getting the correct OS for this use every since the Rpi has been mentioned....
