Re: Image quality vs. regular USB web cameras?

Thanks, Richard. Of course, the ideal FOV depends on what you're using the camera for. Narrow FOV is nice if the subject is further away.

Re: Image quality vs. regular USB web cameras?

Thank you, Mike. Is there a way for me to see these in native resolution? Only fairly small thumbnails are appearing in the forum post.

Image quality vs. regular USB web cameras?

How does the quality of video and images from the camera board compare to those of regular 1080p USB web cameras, such as the Microsoft LifeCam Studio and the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910?

Images would be much appreciated.

Re: Problem with uwsgi...

Here's what I did to get uWSGI running on the Pi. Note: I'm booting only to the console and have not checked if this affects the desktop. Compiling Python and uWSGI takes and hour or two. Remove packaged python stuff: $ sudo apt-get remove .*python.* Install Python from source, with shared libraries...

Re: USB redux

You are welcome. Those commands only work when the Pi is able to access the internet, so I'm guessing that is already the case? So, what you'd normally do is go online from the Pi and just copy/paste the commands from the web page to the console. The other option is to ssh into your Pi from another ...

Re: USB redux

@feverish, it should be:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install git-core
$ sudo wget http://goo.gl/1BOfJ -O /usr/bin/rpi-update && sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/rpi-update
$ sudo BRANCH=fiq_split rpi-update
Btw, don't type the $ -- it just indicates that you should type the commands in a shell, as a regular user.

Re: USB redux

@feverish, try the following magical incantation to get the latest USB goodness. You may also wish to draw a small hexagram and place the RPi on it, before starting the procedure :) $ sudo apt-get install git-core $ sudo wget http://goo.gl/1BOfJ -O /usr/bin/rpi-update && sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/rpi-u...

Re: USB redux

Just wanted to report a success story with the #456 PREEMPT kernel. I've been running the Pi with the motion package and a Microsoft LifeCam Cinema without a single glitch, since updating the kernel, at least a month ago. I've been streaming 720p live video for long periods of time and have recorded...

Re: UVC UVCcapture Colour problems Logitech Pro9000

Thank you -- this worked for me as well. Very helpful, and a good indicator for someone on where to start working on a real fix.

Re: Webcam troubles: Turns off after a few frames

Connecting the camera through a powered hub helped slightly for me. Now it runs for a couple of seconds before crashing.
