Re: Documentation bugs: RPi2&3 GPIO electrical specs

I'm working on building an interface to a burglar/fire alarm panel that puts out "10VDC-13.8VDC through 4K Ohms when high and Ground through 100 ohms when low", and have been searching high and low (if you see what I did there) for the above numbers. ... you will use something at least as sophistic...

Re: Documentation bugs: RPi2&3 GPIO electrical specs

Many thanks to jamesh for following up on this time and time again until we got the real numbers: V(IL) 0.9V V(IH) 1.6V I'm working on building an interface to a burglar/fire alarm panel that puts out "10VDC-13.8VDC through 4K Ohms when high and Ground through 100 ohms when low", and have been searc...

Re: PoE HAT, no ethernet on Cisco SG300, but works on SG500

Also, FWIW: https://fe-pi.com/products/fe-pi-poe-v1 works fine on both SG500 and SG300 switches. Doesnt' have the fan, and doesn't come with standoffs, and makes the assembly higher, so it doesn't fit in the standard case without removing the top, but a little less money and it actually works. 8*) N...

Re: The PoE HAT (recommended hardware)

Cisco SG500 switches work
Cisco SG300 do not unless you disable autonegotiation and set the link speed to 100M

[I suspect the boot-from-USB problem is the 'powering USB from the PoE HAT' known issue]

Same problem on an SG300-10PP, the link doesn't come up till you set it to 100M, then it works.

Re: PoE HAT, no ethernet on Cisco SG300, but works on SG500

Addenda: Its stranger than that. SG500 takes a while but comes up at gigabit.
SG300 works sometimes and not others, but comes right up when forced to 100M.

Some esoteric handshaking or timing thing here...

Re: using the GPIO with Raspberry Pi PoE HAT

I have some on order, but they aren't here yet, so I ended up soldering jumper wires to the bottom of the board to get my RPi Display up and running. Also, make sure you use the standoffs, the PoE HAT will run into the RPi board if you don't. Also also, M2.5x16 screws will(?) allow you to mount the ...

I'd use 'real' Ethernet cables, I've had some wonky results using the thin or flat cables for PoE applications.

PoE HAT, no ethernet on Cisco SG300, but works on SG500

Not sure if this is the same issue as "eth0 not working", but I've just discovered that my Pi3B+ with PoE HAT powers up but doesn't bring up the ethernet port when connected to a Cisco SG300-28PP, but works fine on an SG500-28P NOTE: This only applies to NOOBS Lite V2.8, once I've installed the Rasp...

Re: Install imagemagick

The apt-get version of ImageMagick has some bugs, so I had to build it myself from scratch (which does indeed take a long time to compile). And yeah, the default for building IM doesn't include support for JPG files, go figure. I do this as root, so sudo as applicable if not root: cd ~ wget http://w...

Re: Raspbian Stretch (9.1) has arrived !!

Also, the "Full" version works OK(*) with my KVM switch (GCS-1208), and the installer works as well, but when booted into the console, the keyboard is non-functional. A regular (Dell) USB keyboard works, so it's not that important, but there's something about USB keyboard support in the LITE version...

I'm trying to build a headless machine, is there something I'm missing? [Follow-up: Installing the full version does install Stretch (Debian 9....

Re: DHCP Reservation not working (with Adtran Netvanta)?

Almost! When I release the lease, delete: /var/lib/dhcpcd5/dhcpcd-eth0.lease tell the router to forget about the lease and the DNS name, and reboot, I get a new IP address in the pool (but not the reserved one, which points to a router issue), but then running: sudo dhclient -v gets the old IP addre...

Re: DHCP Reservation not working (with Adtran Netvanta)?

HOW do I release the address? I can get it to renew by saying dhclient -v wich gives the dhcpdump log above, isn't that the same? Oh, sudo dhclient -r releases the IP address, and then on reboot it asks for the non-reserved one again and the DHCP server says ACK. sudo ifdown eth0 just gets me ifdown...

Re: DHCP Reservation not working (with Adtran Netvanta)?

So I've installed (sudo apt-get install dhcpdump) and run it, and it looks like the RPi is requesting a particular IP address (bold below). How do I get it to forget the old one and ask for a new one? Thanks! sudo dhcpdump -i eth0 TIME: 2016-06-05 12:17:50.839 IP: 0.0.0.0 (b8:27:eb:2d:93:5e) > 255.2...

DHCP Reservation not working (with Adtran Netvanta)?

My RPi3 running Jessie is getting a DHCP address from my Adtran Netvanta 3430 router just fine. When I tell the router to give it a reserved IP instead, it doesn't work, just gets (keeps) the DHCP address from the regular pool, which can obviously change... My MacBook Air gets assigned a reserved IP...

Re: Yikes, NOOBS Lite 1.9 broken (no keyboard/mouse on RPi3)

OK, I built another one this morning, same type card on RPi3, same NOOBS 1.9 Lite I did notice that even though the network link lights were on, the NOOBS installed complained that there was no network access. I told it to ignore the WiFi and it installed using the Ethernet. And of course, today it ...

Yikes, NOOBS Lite 1.9 broken (no keyboard/mouse on RPi3)

If I build an SD card using NOOBS Lite 1.9 and select Raspian, the resulting image works just fine, sees the USB keyboard and mouse on boot (at the SHIFT to rebuild screen), but doesn't work on the desktop. Strangely, the devices are shown in lsusb, but they don't work. If I build the same SD card u...

I kinda got it to work:

/etc/rc.local

But the 'correct' way seems to be broken.

[quote="grabur"]This looks awesome. What I'm unsure about is where you plug the transducer into your RPi. Did you choose a particular GPIO pin? There most be some circuitry since you'd want to convert an analog input signal to digital and prevent surges / overpowering the RPi. Let me know please. Gr...

Up to date, but still corrupting SD cards (repeatable)

So, this is a little embarrassing, I created an Instructable using the RPi: http://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Temperature-Humidity-Network-Monitor/ And since they are cheap I built five of them with different hostnames, and they were all working fine. After running for less than two weeks...
