Re: NoIR camera - raspistill giving error

No. On the camera board itself just under the black plastic camera module there is a tiny plastic flap (which is yellow on mine) labelled "sunny". This connects the camera to the camera board. This can come loose which - for me at least - caused all sorts of strange errors with raspistill. Give it ...

Re: NoIR camera - raspistill giving error

I've actually fixed it. The little "sunny" connector between the camera module and the board needed to be gently pushed down until it clicks. I discovered the camera module case I use was pushing the connector out ever so slightly when I inserted the camera. This worked with another normal camera m...

Re: Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

Odd. Can you post your /boot/config.txt? It may be that start_x or gpu_mem is overriding your start.elf. # uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default "safe" mode #hdmi_safe=1 # uncomment this if your display has a black border of unused pixels visible # and your display can output withou...

Re: Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

When you say degrade, how are you measuring this? Also can you compare performance when using start_10.elf? "Degrade" might be the wrong word/assumption, when using start_9.elf the transfer started at normal 5MB/s but after transferring a few MB's "TeraCopy" progress bar got frozen and I had to for...

Re: Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

For more information: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/214 To be clear, are you seeing HDD performance with start_9.elf that is the same as the 10th september firmware? I'm interested in read/write speeds to/from your NAS (network or local) with 10th September vs start_9.elf. Are ther...

Re: Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

Yes, that should work. You need to rename start_9.elf to start.elf so that it is used on the next reboot. The problem got fixed when reverted to Sept 10 version, both 9 and 10 version caused 100% constant CPU use even after cancelling the transfer. start_9.elf was a bit more responsive and offered ...

Re: Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

It's not fixed, it just means the last change I did was bogus. Can you do some experimentation? Can you go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/pr3g0vi1jkfb4ik/start_bits.zip and get the zip file, then copy start_9.elf onto your SD card (overwrite /boot/start.elf, and make sure that the line start_x=1 does...

This should be a version built on the 10th of September.

This fixed it for me :)

Super slow USB HDD after apt-get upgrade ?

Everything was working fine but after using apt-get upgrade and rpi-update followed by a reboot my NAS access over network went super slow and Pi would freeze while trying to copy files from NAS. I ran fsck and it made some fixes, now when I run fsck it shows status as clean however the problem stil...

USB patch everyone was waiting for...

There are numerous USB related issues on this forum, I also had one - http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=49903 and while we were cursing buggy/incompatible products for the issues it turns out something how Linux handles USB devices. Here are the learnings/ debugging issues: 1. If the service does not start successfully, then it means either the hardware.conf does not have the right information or lircd.conf does not have the data in valid format. 2. The service starts successfully but irw does not show any output. It means the...

Re: KaithemAutomation (general automation/web IDE system)

Hi,

I downloaded this and tried executing both on Windows and Raspbian and resulted in error, as far as I remember it was something related to 'what 123' . I guess you should make an easy to use installation script which installs all requirements, do the configs and launch.

Thanks

Re: Resetting usb device from terminal..

rmmod and modprobe resets the device. I am still waiting for IRToy to go into debug mode again to test this reset in that condition. Also,

Code: Select all

cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1.3/power/*
shows

Code: Select all

1
as the result, can we toggle/control this somehow so the device does not go into suspend/debug mode ?

The easier way to do that would be to send date to "internet of things" aggregator like https://xively.com/ and get feeds from there.

Is there a kernel module (driver) that gets loaded when you plug the device in? If so, you might be able to get away with unloading the driver and reloading it using the rmmod and modprobe or insmod commands. It shows as a CDC device attached to USB. I am not sure if any drivers get loaded, anyway ...
